Our perimeter defense needs a lot of work. We gave up way to many 3's to a team that has yet to win a game. Need better communication on switching, and need to quit going under the screen. Have to fight over the screen or switch. I am still a huge Dom fan. Dom is lightning quick and fast. Wish Rueck would give Dom more minutes. I like all our freshmen guards. Wasn't expecting them to contribute as much as they have thus far. I mentioned the lack of continuity that comes along with frequent substitutions earlier. I think that the communication part on defense might be affected because of this. Agree on Dom and the guards. Pretty sure Hunter is going to play quite a few minutes this season assuming she stays healthy, etc. And Shuler is looking pretty solid.

That's 30% and 1.50 made 3's per quarter, doesn't seem too concerning.

Giving the opposition wide open 3's will kill us against better shooting/screening teams.

Giving the opposition wide open 3's will kill us against better shooting/screening teams. Weber State today was 30% from "3"...and they gave up 36% from "3". That aligns with Weber's season averages. Hard to see any immediate concern, in that. Weber, though, is not a good team. Beavers defense is a work in progress, but it appears that it's well ahead of last season. Remember when (back in spring 2023) many fans were ringing their hands about the huge problem the 2023-24 Beav WBB team was going to have at point guard? I do remember. Sure, APB - Villanova - Weber isn't the PAC...but who would have thought in April 2023 that Hunter and Shuler would be as promising as they are so early in the season? Now, those two players each have 5 college games in their resume. Six more to go before the PAC season begins. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I was fortunate to have a friend be nice enough to record a bunch of Donovyn and Kennedie's games and make them available for me to watch. What I saw in those two was an ability to protect the ball and then make smart passes. Neither were prone to turnovers. Donovyn was a bit better at that but Kennedie had a better shooting touch. Kennedie played soccer as well as basketball and it shows in her foot speed, if she gets a step on her defender she is gone to the hoop and her soft touch means she will score more times than not. They are both solid defenders that truly love that end of the court. Neither are like Gabby her senior year but I'm hopeful that they will be Gabby as a freshman. Donovyn is really good as a heads up defender, probably better suited against a shooting guard. Kennedie, with her quick feet, can get around or through screens. Both need to develop but with Aleah as the guards coach I'm confident they will get better. I didn't know how good they would be out of the gates but I was hopeful.

Like the Adlee pass last game, Kennedie, one handed, and even longer, and watch her demeaner afterwards, no big thing, doing my job.
