$200 million? It sounds like UW knows there's a lot more if they're bringing it up.

The filing today by UW included a written acknowledgment that OSU and WSU will get over $200 million. Link to documents here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hahahaha. What this tells me is that lawyers jumped in to make a buck knowing they would have almost 0 impact on the result. I doubt OSU and WSU were intending to not pay the traitorous 10 for this year's performance(their primary excuse for sueing). The lawyers tried to give the T10 the keys to dissipate the pac-12 and run with the money in failing to do that now they're covering they're close rate by trying to EARN the T10 this years paychecks while resigning the fact that they get nothing of the future payouts. GD layers earning their cut. I would love to see an article about how much money each of the T10 spent/lost in this pac-12 exodus. I'm sure cal and Stanford would be near the top of biggest losers. Atm financially the beavers and WSU are the clear winners(although our future plans look a bit tougher than 8 of the other 10). I am sooooo glad we're not an ACC team I don't think joining the opposite coast league is a good solution. |

so just a spit ball here..what happens if let's just say the Big 12 makes offers to OSU and WSU and we both accept. Do all 12 teams then qualify for 'giving notice', the P12 officially dies and the assets all get split 12 ways? Court case is then moot and goes away

Good article. What could Congress do about this? Create an exemption in anti-trust law for the NCAA? If that ever got on the congressional agenda can you imagine the stink made by the big conference programs/states? Ditto for any other attempt to have Congress level the playing field for the benefit of have not programs.
The only solution I can think of is Chip Kelly's, which is to eliminate conferences for football and have television negotiated by the game or school. This would likely reduce the big money substantially, which I would love to see. IMO the amount of money spent on coaching (what ATM is doing is an example) is obscene.

I as just said in another post, I'm too naive about this stuff. But I think both the B12 and espn would love that. It increases the chances of two top 10 schools meeting in late October or November. I believe that is where the huge ratings and money are. I think the only dissenters would be Westvirgina, CentralFlor, and Cincinnati. It makes the B12 a more western or Pacific conference and leaves them vulnerable. |
