The interesting thing between the lines here is that the Yahoo article seems to suggest that OSU/WSU collectively are on the verge of prevailing in their battle against the t10 for control of the conference. I read this a few days ago and thought the same thing. I thought the was the best article I've read on our sitch. I'm OK with it too. Perhaps at some point a few Pac 12 teams may come back to the fold...assuming college football doesn't break apart from conferences all together

UNLV sure found the right time to become bowl eligible and a player in the MWC!
That's good for the proposed future conference too

I think you would have to take the LA schools if they wanted to return. Possibly the Arizona schools. The rest can go suck an egg though, I look forward to Oregon and UW becoming punching bags for the Big10.

The rest can go suck an egg though, I look forward to Oregon and UW becoming punching bags for the Big10. I agree with most that but taking USC back would be a hard pill to swallow. Will be fun to see what Stanford and Cal do when Florida State, Clemson, and UNC bolt from ACC, that will happen way sooner than later. Enjoy those rodies to NC State and VTech and Syracuse. My totally detestable take on Oregon and Washington in Big 10 is they will be fine there, at lest Oregon will. Once DeBoer moves on Washington will go back to being middling to good. The Big 10 is right now a one-trick pony with one extra show pony in Michigan with Harbaugh. Once Harbaugh goes, which will probably be this year, they go back to competing with Penn State and Iowa and Wisky for runner up. Oregon on the other hand IMO is really good now...and getting better (at least recruiting wise). I think Oregon is one of the best teams in the country and can compete with anyone, and would potentially win the Big 10 this year. Yes they lost to UW but I think Oregon is a better, more complete team and would beat Washington 8 out of 10 times. Oregon would crush Penn State. Certainly Ohio State and Michigan would be fun to watch play Oregon...everyone else? Oregon would crush. I was watching the Iowa/Minn game pounding bloody marys in the LV airport, and I'm not sure if I was drinking to get rid of a hangover or because I was watching the most unwatchable football I've seen in years...and I still watched it! I don't know how the TV execs consider The Big 10 one of the two major power football conferences. It's a top heavy conference and will continue to be just that. Is the SEC any different? I think it is, between Bama/LSU/Georgia, adding TX and OK, and considering the past success/relatively recent national championships of Florida, Auburn, Tennessee. It's built more like the Pac 12 with the wealth spread around a bit, not just always consolidated at the top. Anyway...have at me Beaver Fans! just know I do hope Oregon loses to Utah and I look stupid for posting this!

I could see things changing a bit as part of a rebuilt Pac. Big city, great stadium (now), close to Southern Cal. I could see an "upgraded" conference affiliation as being good for their recruiting.

We'll find out at the next hearing in November. In the meantime, if you haven't already, go read Bill58's document postings on his website. Has some real gems in there.

As we've touched on, It isn't necessarily what you are right now (though that matters) it is what you could be. Does the new Pac-12 want the Vegas market? Hell Yeah it does. Especially if their basketball team can bring back some of that old magic. If we are effectively committed to rebuilding a conference, where we stake our claims is very important. Just like with SJSU, staking a claim in the Bay Area is far more important on the onset than how good SJSU is right now. Because we know we will be giving a lot of these schools a bump in money, money they hopefully invest in recruiting and marketing and all that. Rising tide lifts all boats, but we need to may sure we have teams that can be in a place to take advantage of that. The Bay Area, Vegas, are multi million person markets. Hell, sneakily Fresno has millions. So yeah, gimmie all the UNLVs of the world. Vegas recently has hockey and NFL, but the only college game in town is UNLV. Find ways to elevate those schools and get some eyes on the TV on Saturday! The people will care when the team gets good.
