Baltimore hit the jackpot when they got Adley. I would not be surprised to see him hit .300 next year. Don't know when his contract is up, but there's some very significant cash in that young man's future.

The kid is special. I’d couldn’t have picked a better face of their franchise!

2 run homer in what might be division clinching game tonight. 2-0 in the 4th The Orioles won 5-1, but the Rays beat the Red Sox 5-0 to keep pace. The Orioles' magic number is now one. An Orioles' win or Rays' loss gives the Orioles homefield advantage into the World Series. (The NL Champion hosts, because of the NL's 3-2 win in the All-Star Game.)

Don't know when his contract is up, but there's some very significant cash in that young man's future. The "big" contracts don't come until after 6 years of service. Arbitration raises occur after your 2nd or 3rd year (whether it's after the 2nd or 3rd year depends on some complicated service time calculations). Adley gets some kind of benefit from finishing as a top 2 ROY vote getter. I don't recall if it's early arbitration or what. The Orioles CAN sign him to a long-term contract now, buying out his "rookie" deal/arbitration years, but if nothing happens, he's a free agent in 2028. You would expect them to try to sign the guy, or if they can't, they'll trade him in 2027. Orioles seem to have a decent young core of players, so you'd hope they won't go into "tank" mode before that time.

I thought they did away with the All-Star Game winner, and replaced it with whoever had the better regular season record of the two World Series participants.

Even if true, that is not something you say 4-5 years ahead of time. That short right field porch at Yankees Stadium would fit him pretty well

That disappeared a couple of years ago.

Wouldn't the 6 year thing start in the year they drafted and signed him? With the covid thing he was in the minors a few years.
