There aren't enough teams. They would have to add two teams from somewhere else to even get it up and running. You probably need to add teams from the AAC to even get that to work, which defeats the purpose. That cannot possibly start up until 2026 at the earliest.

Add South & North Dakota St, two superior FCS schools if they agree to be in lower relegation league to start.

I've never been to either of the Dacoldas

Monty show has a pretty good take on the relegation model with the PAC and MWC. 16 teams. Two 8 team sub divisions with one being the top division with the Playoff spot. Movement back and forth based on performance.
Mentioned the MWC merger is a done deal. it is just waiting for the PAC litigation to get past a certain point and who knows what exact form it will take. No Eastern AAC teams are involved at this point and ridiculed that idea as fiscally not possible on non P4 budgets.
might join in the middle. slide back to start if needed

Both SoDakState and NDSU are really good. But potential for TV viewers is extremely limited. Ive been to Fargo but not Brookings. Fargo is probably a bit smaller than Eugene. Except Portland is not 110 miles away. Last year as a joke I wrote Long Beach State should be an option for the PAC. No joke, LBSU is a better option for the MWC than the Dakotas. If Long Beach got a successful program, people would care, go to games, and watch on TV.

Only one solution . By any means necessary get an invite to the Big-12. All other alternatives suck.

We're trying to rebuild a Power-5 conference, and the solution is to promote the Dakotas? Well, if you believe the future is all college football teams in one big conference, then I guess we're just getting ahead of ourselves with the Dakotas. If we have to promote schools, I'd look at schools like Sacramento State, Cal Poly, UC Davis, or... gasp.... Portland State first. These schools because: * easy travel access * should have some money to put into their athletic programs * lots of eyeballs for TV ratings * located in or near large metro areas for recruiting purposes

If you were to rebuild the PAC-12 by poaching the best of the Mountain West, then Long Beach State or Cal State Fullerton should also be a consideration. I've looked at maps of schools in the Los Angeles area to see what schools they have that could be promoted. A presence in the Los Angeles area would be very important for eyeballs on TV and recruiting purposes. Plus easy access for travel. And if the PAC-12 is rebuilt by poaching the Mountain West, then San Jose State Univ. also is a key school. Located in the SF Bay area. Reasons for wanting SJSU include large media market, exposure in key recruiting area, and easy travel access. SJSU has a large student population, which means large alumni base, and given the location relative to Silicon Valley, then there's got to be a few alumni with deep pockets.

Sounds of desperation. Two months ago people would laugh at any of these teams joining our league. If the mwc is our destination and forget the merger into the pac it still is a league with mwc teams then say goodbye to most coaches and manyplayers. The budget is going to take a big whack.

First, the discussion centered on the relegation/promotion concept. The Dakotas were an example of highly successful FCS teams... that actually have football! No way in any universe will a school with no football program be added. Period. Teams like the Dakotas (Sac St, UC Davis... only recently) would be competitive and probably accept a spot in the relegation division. I'm in no way in favor of anything with the MWC other than they dissolve and come under the Pac14 banner.
