The reason why Barnes wants the financial reports NOW. 400 million + and wait it out for the best defectors to create a new conference and negotiate media. Not a bad idea. That's a good long term plan, but in the next two years it could affect recruiting and keeping guys. Hurry up and wait. I agree with Barnes on this, the real numbers need to be available. I want to see the official financial reports and hard numbers backed up by the accountants and officially released to the public. Any thing else is just click bait material and hearsay which lately have been more inaccurate than true on realignment, etc, . I have heard a lot of different stories but nothing on hard official numbers. I think Barnes wants the same thing before any decisions can be made.

A few years ago I would have called bullocks on all of this, thinking the 10 defecating presidents can't be that dumb to leave 400 million dollars on the table AND walk away from the Apple deal worth MORE in guarantees for most of the defectors and WAY MORE if any of the upside was met...
However if the last couple years has taught me anything it is that College presidents make TERRIBLE financial decisions, and while they maybe be brilliant in their field of academia, they are actually pretty dumb in most other areas of life and piss poor leaders.
So... GO BEAVS! Get some lawyers and get that CHEDDER!
Wilky, do you have a license in Oregon or Washington? Or will this be a federal case? (where do you need a license to do federal stuff, DC?)

I still feel that there is no way the figure is anywhere near $400 million. I would be shocked if it was even $100 million. We shall see.

Just internet click bait material at this point like I already mentioned. Until I see verified numbers from the pac office or official sources from WSU or OSU I am skeptical. I am not sure what that magic amount would be though to proceed further. I am sure there is a go or no go number.

And (regarding OBF's comment) I think there was a combination of panic and the need to feel like they were finding a stable situation.

But the fact that Barnes is still working on the situation makes me believe that he believes pretty strongly that there's something worthwhile coming OSU's way. If it was not much of anything then the Beavers would just join the MWC and be done with it.

Washington State President Kirk Schulz, who circled Oct. 1 as a soft deadline for resolution, told Pac-12 insider John Canzano: “There’s no magic bag of money sitting beneath the president’s desk where you can reach in and pull cash out.”

I took it as meaning that WSU doesn't have a bunch of money squirreled away to throw at problems. I think both Schulz and Barnes have been staying away from talking in specifics, most likely for legal purposes, about what they might get as the Pac-2.

I don't have a license in Oregon or Washington, but I have a license in Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. I have done some very minor work in California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and one of the Dakotas. (It was like North Dakota, right on the border with South Dakota or South Dakota, right on the border with Nebraska, and I forget which. The case never really went anywhere.) I am licensed to practice in the Federal Court in Arizona and Utah......maybe. I forget if I let the Utah Federal license lapse a couple of years back or not. (Utah seems to have a bunch of extra hoops to jump through to both get and stayed barred that Arizona and Colorado do not. Also, they have Pioneer Day, which seems to cause issues every time that I have a case up there.) The rules for practicing in front of the federal bench in each jurisdiction vary a bit. Who or what are the Defendants? What is your cause of action? I don't think that there is diversity, because Oregon and Washington are in the same state as Oregon State and Wazzu, respectively. So, the Federal courts should not have jurisdiction unless there is a Federal question. The Pac-12 Charter or some other agreement should state where jurisdiction lies, if there is litigation. It should also state the choice of law. I really don't know how the rules work up there, but if it's anything like Arizona, Colorado, or Utah, I would just go ahead and file in Benton County or Whitman County and make the Defendants argue about why it should be somewhere else. I have found it is very difficult to transfer a case to another state after it has been filed in the first state, unless you can get it into the Federal courts somehow. (Then, it is remarkably easy to move things from say Arizona to California or South Carolina.)
