Well, he was 0-27… 3-7 in his last few games! I do wonder if he’s been working on some swing adjustments there. Adley did the same on the cape after his freshman year, and it worked out ok. Sounds familiar and we've seen this before, can't hit the slider. At times this year it was embarassing. He does like heaters though. I'd throw nothing but sliders and changes all fall, too much talent to have that issue. a lot of times he couldn’t hit the slider because they were not strikes, chasing pitches he couldn’t reach. If he could learn to recognize and lay off breaking balls out of the strike zone it would help him tremendously.

Congrats to Garret, that is awesome. And on a side note, this should be the end of people asking if he might come back, get real, there was never a chance How much did he sign for? A million bucks after paying an agent. taxes, et al, won't last all that long....

Make an occasional putt. (says the guy who normally plays in triple figures)

Make an occasional putt. (says the guy who normally plays in triple figures) Guys who can hit the FB are a "dime a dozen". What separates a guy with talent and pro potential is not only pitch recognition in the strike zone, but the discipline to let the ball travel. It's not always a skill that can be "taught" successfully. There are lots of drills that help, but it comes down to the discipline and confidence to let the ball get to the hitting zone. Whether a hitter is facing a on or off side pitcher, offspeed needs to travel longer. The key for the pitcher, throw off timing. The key for a hitter is to let a pitch travel and keep your hands inside the barrel. Off speed/breaking pitches have been the "death" of many, many talented players. Hitting a 90+ mph fast ball is a specific talent. But, depth perception, patience confidence to let a pitch travel deep in the zone is a rarer talent. I've not seen Turley since OSU's season ended. But, we called players like him a "head turner". His head is never stable. Meaning his eyes are moving. At times he keeps his chin/both eyes forward. It takes both to create depth perception and to pick up off speed/movement. But, he often has his head inside his left shoulder meaning his right eye is somewhere near the 4 hole. Some at bats he'll turn his head as the pitch is delivered, so his eyes are also a moving target trying to pick up a moving target. Some batters just never can get their eyes to "settle". If you're my age some might remember an old school method having players bite the front shoulder of their jersey?! It was ridiculous, but was a technique you saw. There are much better drills to help kids see with both eyes! Lol
