The guy is an asshole and I'm not talking about the mascot. He may be all of that, but in watching and re-watching the video, since he was promoting some kind of product, is it possible what we saw was the equivalent of WWF? When he takes a swing, it looks like a fake hit in a hollywood movie - but hey, if it is real - agreed - a real asshat. Officers on site should have cuffed and taken him away immediately. Didn't happen - another reason why I smell a rat. |

I am reminded of the quote "believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see" - since I was a kid, I was taught to be skeptical of many things. In the crass, shallow and deceptive world we now live in, I am skeptical. Not saying it didn't happen as advertised, but where is the follow up? Where is the evidence that the mascot went to the hospital?
If it is true, why wasn't he arrested immediately for assault and hauled off to jail? Oh I get it, if you are a professional athlete, you get a pass on the law? You can commit a crime and just go on dribbling the ball for millions of dollars? What, we can't upset the fans at a game? What a joke. This makes the LaGarrette Blount situation look like a walk in the park. One more reason to hate (ooh, too harsh) strongly dislike professional sports. |

Exactly. Hard to say where the "skit" ended and the real pain started. I could go to the hospital and complain of a headache, they could prescribe pain medication, and send me home. Hard to say whether or not this was part of the plan to get attention. Heck, look at us discussing it  . I know nothing about McGregor - he might be an asshat - no idea |

Severeral years ago there was an actual fight in downtown Corvallis where I believe someone died, not directly from the punch but from hitting the ground if I recall correctly. I think it the punch might have been thrown in self defense with several witnesses, don't remember how it worked out legally in the end.
It's quite possible the punch in this video was thrown with the thought being "how could anyone wearing 4-8 inches of foam and airspace get hurt?" And the punch was more devastating than expected, or the back flop caused damage none of us know about. McGregor is a scary guy, but we really don't know if he went way overboard on the plan until someone involved actually says that's the case. I doubt a hospital visit was part of the plan, they probably won't ever do that plan again.
