Now it gets very interesting for couch coaches if the game is started tonight. The worst thing for the Beavers would be a game that starts-stops-starts if Ferrer does start. I did not want to see a 2-inning start and another delay that makes Ferrer sit for a long time. Or worse: 2 innings and play the rest tomorrow. The games are already postponed until Tomorrow.

Can we please stop with field drainage talk. It's getting really petty.

Wow, jumping in to this late, been working all day. Field drainage! Yes, more difficult on a natural grass surface than field turf, but can be achieved. The grass is probably planted on a heavy sand base, no dirt or clay. Under the sand, it probably is constructed similar to a field turf type field. They all basically use s thick layer (12-24” +/-) of open graded crushed rock. Open graded means there are no fines. This creates a lot of open space for water to filter through AND be stored. The rock sits on a series of drain pipes, many times a flat strip type drain that carries the water out of the field of play. Then it can either drain by gravity, or by pumping if there is no fall toward the discharge. There would be a separation layer of geotextile between the sand and aggregate layers. It’s a felt type material that comes in large rolls. Different parts of the country have different types of rock, so yes, crushed limestone could be used. The crushed rock would be in the range of 1”-1/4” +/- depending on the engineer. The problem with most youth sports natural grass fields in the PNW is that they were originally built out of the strippings, the top 6-12” of dirt containing organic debris that is removed prior to building structures like buildings, roads and parking lots on. It’s expensive to get rid of, so hey, why not build the school fields out of it. Which is fine for 6-7 months if the year. Then? Muddy mess! Fun topic! media.tenor.com/Fd2wqsBhDwMAAAAM/nerd-alert.gif

Looks like it'll be a hot one tomorrow.

They are talking on Squeeze Play that there were over 600 player ejections this year. I don't recall any player ejections in our games. Is this a SEC and ACC thing?
