How does the water get to the "large limestone gravel bed?" Okay kidding aside. I would imagine some geo-textile/grid and a good sand base under the truff, before the large graded aggregate. I would think a pumping system would be needed for the collection system , but I not familiar with the topography for an outlet.

Clemson up 3-1 on Tennessee in the bottom of the 5th.
I hope waving pool noodles behind home plate all game does not become a trend. It’s annoying.

The thing is, if you're trying to distract the opposing pitcher. Do you really want to mess him up when he's throwing a ball that could hit and seriously injure a player on the team you're pulling for?

Really? Do you feel threatened? I'll check back in a while. Please explain the surface drainage design for Alex Box Stadium. Tell me the slopes that are used to direct sheet flow to the drains. Then tell us all where the drains are placed? I'll bet there is a not a playing surface in the United States that has french drains on the playing surface. They can create some "bad hops." If they are out of the playing surface, does the field have slopes? Answering my own question, it doesn't have enough slope to move much water. Saying all this, what you are left with is the need for rain to percolate through the surface. But knock this out of the park. Come on AG87. He is probably a traffic engineer. I was thinking a petroleum transfer engineer. That’s why my friends in college that worked at the gas station called themselves.

I never got into the discussion between NativeB and the LSU guy from a few days ago. But as a civil engineer, I cant see how pumps help a field drain. It's all about percolation. After the rainfall percolates through the surface and is collected in pipes, pumps could help if gravity is not available. This is how Reser Stadium is drained. It's a bathtub. But for keeping the surface playable, pumps do nothing. As a civil engineer you don’t see how pumps would help get water off of a field? As a nuclear engineer who is a licensed mechanical and works as a structural, he's 100% right. Pumps only help drain the reservoir. It only affects the playing surface if your drainage and reservoir is completely saturated. If you need pumps it's either an assload of rain or bad drainage.

Tennessee with a 2 out, 2 strike, 3 run homer in top of ninth to take lead. Clutch.

Ahaahhahhahah!!!! Lemme just DIY some gravel channels for ya on a high performance surface!!! Wait lemme setup my cameras for my stream first! LSU is a pretty good engineering school and it's civil program is great, might want to go talk to some of the alums about it civil. On a serious note I would def go with well filtered 1/4- haha

Saying all this, what you are left with is the need for rain to percolate through the surface. But knock this out of the park. Settle down grasshopper. The field doesn’t have individual French drains under the surface but a large limestone gravel bed with a system of pipes embedded in the gravel bed. I’ve been at a game where a rain came and the outfield has a ton of standing water in centerfield. After the rain was finished you could literally watch the water drain off the field as in about 10 minutes the standing water was gone. The football field has some thing similar but the football field is turtle backed so the drainage is down each boundary. Well that explains why they need pumps. Hit saturation really early. Is the field in a depression or pretty level? That area is only like 24-28' above sea level so a shallow drained with pumps is probably the best bet unless you build the facility up on an artificial surface. Water table isn't going to be very deep at all.

Indiana defeats #12 Kentucky 5-3. Big help for the Beavs if they can take care of business on their end.

Ducks wrecking Vandy in the 1st. 3-0 off some sloppy defense and a homer. Still have an out.
If the ducks finally kill off the whistler I'll be kinda annoyed.
