he Eastlake Wolves from Sammamish, WA. powered their way to the KingCo 4A League championship this spring with an 18-2 record. They continued their roll in the WIAA playoffs by defeating Puyallup-Rogers 4-1, Yakima-Kamiakin 5-0, Maple Valley-Tahoma 5-1, and finally, Sumner 13-1 in the Washington 4A championship game. The Wolves finished their championship season with a 25-2 record. Eastlake had a potent hitting lineup and the best 1-2 pitching punch in the state.
With two touted Division 1 starters available back to back, EHS was assured of putting a big arm on the bump in every game. With Bryce Johnson, one of the states best pitchers for two consecutive years and hard throwing Dylan Skolfield following him, Eastlake was a formidable opponent in every game. Johnson, who was an early Washington commit, changed his pledge to Oregon State last fall. Skolfield is committed to Washington State.
Johnson pitched a masterpiece in the semi-final against a potentTahoma team, allowing 1 run and scattering 4 hits while striking out 6.
Bryce his a solid frame at 6-3 and 218 and has a 4-pitch arsenal that includes a low 90's fastball, a slider, corve ball and a 79 mph change of pace. Here are Jonsons impressive stats for the 2023 season and his 2 1/2 year career (Covid shortened the 2021 season to 10 games).

“Really good,” he said. “Really aggressive. Even when they’re fooled, they have ways of finding barrel. We knew that.” In addition to having one of the state’s most dangerous lineups — Eastlake outhit Sumner 14 to eight — Eastlake coach Frank Smith had another nice luxury on his hands this spring: having two Pac-12 bound pitchers he could use in consecutive days. A day earlier, Oregon State commit Bryce Johnson pitched a gem for the Wolves in a semifinal win. Then in Saturday’s championship game, Eastlake trotted out Skolfield, committed to WSU. How’s that for a 1-2 punch?"

I've looked at quite a few video clips of Johnson - He's a shade bigger and throws a shade harder and he's a strike thrower - he'll remind you a lot of Jaren Hunter.
