Interesting senior day today…several juniors and a sophomore celebrating along with the seniors….
Dernedde Mcdowell Lattery Brown
Are they out of eligibility, or just assuming they are going to get drafted?
Mcdowell surprises me….

All have eligibility and all have opportunities in draft or otherwise...wouldn't be shocked if see 1 or 2 back, but might not and they wanted to celebrate just in case not

They have all been at Oregon State for four years and have the free COVID-19 year. Brown is a redshirt sophomore. I believe that the other three are juniors.

It would be really nice to have McDowell back.. and Dernedde for that matter. He has been playing well.

Most importantly, all are graduates (or scheduled-to-be graduates) of Oregon State University. To these kids and their parents, they are seniors and should be celebrated!

I think the point is that they are seniors. It's called Senior Day.

McDowell and Brown might get drafted. Lefty hitter with some pop and speed; decent pitcher. They have some leverage with another year left and might be able to squeeze out better deals.
Dernedde isn't gonna be drafted, he should come back, and it would be hard for me to think he could find a better landing spot than OSU. I think the coaches would welcome him back, he's popular on the team and plays his butt off.
I could see Lattery going someplace closer to home, Minnesota really needs help. If not, I'd welcome him back.

The one I would want back is Brown. Next year could really be special if we find great Friday and Sat. Starters. (Keljo & ) Brown would be a damn good closer for this 24 group. We lose Donkey, maybe McDowell. I will guess Dern will be back at SS.

The “sophomore” label doesn’t mean much except eligibility. The leverage he has is limited by his age - he’ll be 23 this fall. He already turned down a rookie contract with the Yanks in 2019 out of HS. Unless a team really squeezes him, or if he doesn’t get drafted at all, he probably should sign.

His 4 season progression re:OPS .488 > .366 > .323 > .858. Armed with that 'learning' (including a college degree) he's ready

Gotta remember two things.
1) Some of these guys are ready to get in with life and know they aren't making it to the MLB.
2) Our roster is loaded with young talent who are going to be frothing for playing time. That doesn't even count the new guys coming in.

If our top arms make it to campus next year. No reason why we cant win a Championship. If im Forrester McDowell or Dernedde I would be chomping at the bit to come back. Forget getting on with life. This team is loaded next year if everyone continues developing and those upper class men return.

I think Forrester will be offered a decent signing bonus. He won't be offered one if he wants to play another year of college ball. Same deal with McDowell. Because he's only had one productive year he won't be offered a ton, maybe 100k to 200k, but that's still more than he would get even if he has Bazzana type numbers next year. AG87 recommends taking the cash and start seeing if you can advance to MLB or need to find a non baseball career.
