2016 we shut them out 3 times at Goss. That seemed kind of easy. Maybe I should've said they're usually tough. Their 2016 team lost a lot of talent off their #1 seed 2015 squad. They were also a M.A.S.H. unit that year.

Everything I heard pre game 1 made me think this was going to be an easy series win. But what a matchup! UCLA always has talent and a good coach in Savage. They should never be taken lightly. For an example, see last year when we had a Super Regional team: They came into Goss and won 2 out of 3. Then in the Pac 12 Tournament we blew a 21-12 lead in the 9th, eventually losing 25-22 in 10.(We did beat them in the following game 8-7.) When playing the Bruins, it's never easy. That’s what I expected. But losing an ace and other injuries, they all said, had made UCLA weak this year, losing many match ups. Sounded good for us. But as you say, everyone wants a piece of us.

Everything I heard pre game 1 made me think this was going to be an easy series win. But what a matchup! 2018 was the last year that Oregon State won a series against UCLA. Oregon State last won a series at Jackie Robinson in 2017 but got outscored. The last time that Oregon State scored more runs than UCLA at Jackie Robinson was more than a decade ago. 2005 was the last year that Oregon State swept at Jackie Robinson. Currently, UCLA has won three consecutive series against Oregon State, two at Goss. UCLA is the only team that can claim that. UCLA also has won four of the past seven series against Oregon State. Only one other team can claim that, and that is Arizona. But UCLA has a better record against Oregon State over the past seven series. UCLA has been a thorn in Oregon State's side for the past 14 seasons, ever since Savage got UCLA to start winning Pac-10/12 Championships and playing in Omaha. The Bruins have more College World Series appearances under Savage than they have under all of their other coaches combined.

But even good/great teams can look very different after a visit from the injury bug.

Heck of a relay for the out at 3rd. Not exactly Wallace to Barney to Canham but still pretty sweet. Heads up by cowboy Great accurate throw by Forrester on a split-second decision (right at the moment the runner turned back to 3rd).
