Time to face the fact, we do not have a reliable Fri. Night Guy. Not sure what well can do about it. I don't think Sellers would make a very good BP guy. Throws the Ball high and throws too many pitches. We need a Fen F type performer on Friday night. Just saying....

GFY.

Hope we perform better, the bullpen improves and the bats keep building on what they've done lately. What else is there? I mean, aside from complaining?

It is what it is. And actually, IT is pretty good. Not great, not what we as spoiled Beaver baseball fans are used to and expect, but pretty good! And that’s not bad. It might even be fun to see how far these guys can take it. Let’s go Beavs!

Bazzana is our most dominant leadoff hitter since...? He is hyper aggressive on the base paths and it is never going to be perfect but it is really fun to watch. If he is getting on base he just takes over a game. His comments on the pre game today were pretty interesting. We don't have anyone like Heimlich and Fehmel in the starting rotatation but we've got a lot of upside down in the pen. Reminds me a bit of where we were five years ago in early May with a couple of freshmen named Chamberlain and Eisert. Bazzana's fearlessness has become contagious with this team. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I like Bazzana. But for a very good player he makes an unconscionable number of baserunning and fielding errors. A fielding error in each game this weekend and a massive brain fart today at third base. That can't happen. I don't know the splits, maybe Guerra hits 50 points better when he plays in left field than he does as DH. But if he and Macias are going to share the positions, I want Macias in the field. And walking three guys with a 7-1 lead and three more with an 8-1 lead is unforgivable. Yeah, get off my lawn. You’re not even counting his original mental error. On his opening hit, there’s no way he should have tried to stretch that into a double. He made two mental errors in the first. Any average throw and he was out at second on his hit. I was OK with that one. He ran hard out of the box, had his mind made up before he hit first and never slowed down. The RF was a lefty going to his left, so he had to field the ball across his body, then stop and turn 90 degrees to his right and throw to second across his body. Not an easy play and he clearly didn't perform it, because the throw was horrible. As I said I like Bazzana. He's very, very good and brings a lot of energy. He's a top candidate for conference POY. But to be great those kind of mistakes can't continue at the rate they do.

Lattery out after a solid outing.(Too bad he didn't get 5 innings in) Mejia coming in ......7-1 Beavs with one on. Mejia "playing with fire" but gets out of it without getting burned. A 'bounce back' outing for Lattery after his struggles the previous 2 Sundays vs ASU / UA (combined 11 ER in 4-2/3 innings). Lattery taken out with 2 out in 5th....one out short of being eligible for the "W". In the 5th the first two batters he faced grounded out unassisted to 1B. The 3rd batter walked on a 3-2 count. That was Lattery's 76th pitch. May not seem like real high pitch count, but it was his highest ever as a Beaver.

There's just no reason to put yourself in a position to be caught there. I was ok with the double.....sometimes you want to test a guy...see if he make a play....he didn't. Thats a big mental hit against Utes defense. Guaranteed no opposing team wants to deal with Bazzana on the basepaths. His aggressive nature has been a huge boon to the team. He's gonna get caught a few times....comes with the territory.....but yea the 3rd base stuff......I'm sure Canham gave him an earful after that one.
