I hope we play spicy defense. I watched the 2022 CW again yesterday. For the life of me I can't figure out WTF Rod Gilmore was talking about when he repeatedly mentioned "spicy" defense but if that's what we played in the fourth quarter I'm all in favor of it. Maybe he means we have to have a salty attitude, and play with lots of pepper. Spicy defense. Like a full court pressure defense. Play compact. You don't need anyone over the top. Everyone near the line. Trust someone to get pressure from somewhere somehow. And trust your DBs to cover a huge area, if necessary. Don't let the quarterback comfortable. Show that everyone can blitz at any time from anywhere. Fun to watch, when it works (Oregon). Terrible to watch, when it does not (Utah). A lot of people on here kept dogging the defense, because there were no sacks. But the sack is one of the most overrated statistics. You don't need sacks. You need pressure. You need to rattle the quarterback. You need him to never be comfortable. Where is the pressure going to come from? Who is dropping back? Where am I? Who am I? Once a quarterback starts questioning his existence, that is when you really start to turn up the pressure. Spicy!

Most of our offensive and defensive guys are pretty young, the special teams kids too. Some of the older Pro players might be getting a few wrinkles... I'd rather not get close enough to scrutinize them in either case.
This guy Bryan "Speedy" Sperry played for Kansas state and is now back in the portal after all these years. He will not be required to wear a helmet when he transfers into OSU. Apparently there is a rule out there on that on requiring gear that you wore or did not wear when you played at the time.
You might say he was "grandfathered" in on that rule.
