And this isn't even an opinion that Oram himself has owned up to. He has distanced himself from it somewhat: "Listen to people who have closely watched spring practice and you’ll hear that Uiagalelei has been the Beavers’ third-most impressive quarterback in two weeks of spring practice." Sounded more like Oram was trying to stir some kind of pot than anything else to me. Angie Machado, who had watched ever practice the media was permitted to watch, said Ben had thrown more picks than all other QBs combined in the practices up until her podcast last week. She also said both Aidan and DJU brought more talent to the QB room than it has had since Matt Moore.
That Aidan is doing really well doesn't mean DJU is a big flop. Most observers thought he was the second bests QB of the group at the Army All Star game.

Nick Mitchell 7. Tanner Sanders
First off. When has Oregon State had more talent in the QB room before or since 2014? No, Angie, no! Bad Angie! The Beavs were so set up at quarterback in 2014 and beyond that it was stupid. If only BDC had not decided to set Oregon State back nine years. It's only just starting to get back to where it should have been, if a bean counter had not decided to ruin the football team.
I would love for 2023 Oregon State to have a more talented QB room than 2014. That would be amazing.
But I feel like I am Sayid in Season 2 of "Lost" listening to Henry Gale. I am not going to believe Angie until I desecrate a grave and rifle through the corpse's pockets.

Three of those backups to Mannion combined to go 33 and 11 with other teams. Kempt was actually the least successful win/loss wise. Sad for Del Rio that he had multiple injury issues.

She wasn't talking about overall depth of the QB room. 7 guys on the roster notwithstanding, we had essentially 1 QB who saw the field in 2014, Mannion (Del Rio threw 8 passes on the year). Beyond that we had three young guys who, although not playing in 2014, found good situations at places they transfered to that utilized their talents well. Did Andersen botch the QB room? Yeah. But that's beside her point. The question is: Were any or all of those four guys more talented than DJU or Chiles? I don't know. She doesn't think so, but time will tell. Only Mannion made the NFL. DJU? Chiles? I guess we'll see. And BTW, all those QBs you listed were recruited by Riley. They were run off by Andersen. DeCarolis paid the market rate for Andersen for an experienced coach. Bad move, but it wasn't to count beans.

Bad move, but it wasn't to count beans. We had essentially 1 QB who saw the field in 2006, Moore (Canfield threw 28 passes on the year). My point is that Angie chose the wrong year. Oregon State had Mannion who was better than Moore and the delta on Canfield and any of the others does not outweigh the delta separating Mannion and Moore. And Moevao was not comparable to anyone else on the list. And Colt Charles......... I just disagree with the year chosen. BDC was a bean counter, who choked off Oregon State football from decent facilities and coaching talent, while Riley was head coach. He then decided to chase off a cheaper and better coach in favorite of an alcoholic moron, who was so far in over his head that he could not see daylight. His stupid decision was created by his earlier stupid bean-counting decisions. BDC decided to count beans, rather than support a decent coach and then panicked and got swindled by a dufus before retiring, because he proved himself to be a bean-counting dufus. And BDC's retirement was sadly just a bit too late to save football. I said back in 2013 on the old board, when the fire and pitchfork crowd were picking up steam, that BDC would turn the football team into dust, if he got to pick a head coach. And I will continue to beat that drum. I am glad that Smitty came back to save the program from BDC's nine-year rut. But it really never should have happened.
