I like that Donarski plays big time minutes and is a lock down defender. It is true that her overall shooting and 3pt shooting has trended downward, especially this past season. Her career began in the covid year, so she should have 2 years of eligibility remaining. Would be a good pickup, especially if she can regain her 3pt shooting from her freshman campaign.
What's up with Lauren Fields? She was the leading scorer at Oklahoma State, but didn't do much at all at Arizona. One year and gone. I haven't checked. I'm guessing she has graduated so she would be a grad transfer. Otherwise, she's looking at sitting out a year. Just noticed it does say Grad transfer. Her transfer recruitment last season was quite interesting as her Dad liked to post on twitter the coaches that visited her, and the places she visited. Utah was one, but I couldn't seem them interested again as I don't think they have a need, especially as a starter, which I'm guessing she would want to be. Her shooting percentage has never been good. A little like Bendu in that regard.

If Donarski has 2-years of eligibility, then OSU needs to put on the full court press. Pass if she only has a single year.

Daschel is reporting that the Beavers are looking to add two transfers, FWIW. Makes sense as far as the numbers are concerned.

Beavs need a transfer post player. There's a lack of depth in the front court. It's like good D linemen in football in that you can never have too many good ones on your roster.

Daschel is reporting that the Beavers are looking to add two transfers, FWIW. Makes sense as far as the numbers are concerned. The whole quote: “Center Jelena Mitrovic is unlikely to return next season. There was some gray area when Mitrovic went through Senior Day ceremonies, but it appears she’s decided, with a degree in hand, to call it a college career. As for the roster staying intact for the 2023-24 season, it’s looking good. It appears none of the current underclassmen are considering a move. OSU, meanwhile, is looking to add two transfers this offseason. Stay tuned on that front.“ Definitely need a front court player. I’d probably take an athletic guard like Donarski too. Seems the portal has been thin on front court players.

If Jalena does in fact leave we need 2 bigs in case of injury or foul trouble.

Current depth chart for next season: PG: Talia von Oelhoffen, Martha Pietsch, Kennedie Shuler SG: Adlee Blacklock, Donovyn Hunter SF: AJ Marotte, Lily Hansford PF: Timea Gardiner, Shalexxus Aaron C: Raegan Beers
The obvious need is another center to back up Raegan. Could probably get away with just adding that, but adding another 4/5 would be ideal. It's probably going to be hard to get a good center to come here with how well Raegan has been playing. Maybe the JUCO kid from Georgia? Regardless we really need some depth there.
Young group of guards and wings with two freshmen, three sophomores, and two juniors. Would be nice to get a player like Donarski who would probably fill Bendu's role. Not a true PG but would probably be our best athlete and defender from day 1. Some Iowa State fans seem to think she's a much better offensive player than what she had the opportunity to show there. She'd have the ball in her hands a lot more at OSU.

Thanks @beaverwbb fan. No question we need another Center. I would love to have Lauren Ware fill that spot. And another solid ball handler at PG. Only change I would make to your list is I would have TvO's primary position as SG, and a backup PG (after Martha, Schuler). And maybe Hunter will surprise and show well at PG. Can't wait to see who OSU can attract to Corvallis (Ass't coach included). GO BEAVS

GO BEAVS Moving Talia to SG would be ideal (and someone like Donarski could probably do that), but as of now the starting backcourt is probably AJ, Adlee, and Talia, and Talia is probably best suited to play PG out of that bunch. Martha will have to improve significantly to play many meaningful minutes next season. She really struggled against better competition in conference play. Will be interesting to see if Shuler is ready to contribute meaningful minutes. Hunter should get minutes. Impressed with her athleticism, defense, and IQ.

From what I saw of her this year Hunter is pretty much the total package as beaverwbb says with athleticism, defense, IQ and I would add good ball handling and passing skills also. She has played both PG and SG and added a 3pt shot to her arsenal this year. She has the height that SR likes at the guard position and the defensive skills that SR requires to get minutes. I'm thinking she gets significant minutes next year as a freshman and will make this team better. I would hope that she really works more on her long range shooting this off season---it was better this year but still needs further improvement.

Article on the Portal featuring Lynne Roberts from Utah from The Athletic:
Sweet 16 women’s teams fueled by transfer portal, where all but one found a starter
GREENVILLE, S.C. — To hear Utah coach Lynne Roberts tell it, basketball recruiting has always been an oven or a crock pot. Coaches have gone out to establish relationships with the top high school players’ coaches and AAU clubs. Players and coaches have years to form relationships, and by the time a commitment is on the horizon, players have ample time to take campus visits.
But as the NCAA has implemented drastic changes to athlete eligibility over the past two years, specifically getting rid of the requirement that first-time transfers must sit out a year, the idea of a slow cooker has often gone by the wayside in lieu of a quicker cooking option.
“It’s kind of like a microwave because it happens so fast,” Roberts said. “You used to recruit a high school kid, and you’d know them since they were in ninth grade. You know their mom and their dad and their uncle Jimmy and their trainer. In the transfer portal, it could be two weeks.”
And for Roberts, that leaves some risk. She’s “fiercely protective” of her Utah program’s culture, and finding the right fit for the Utes means taking her time, a luxury that the transfer portal doesn’t often allow coaches.
But occasionally, the right fit for Roberts is obvious — like last offseason when USC transfer Alissa Pili came into the fold for the Utes. Pili came in and elevated the program, leading this team to its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2006 with her team-leading 21 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Though Pili might be the only microwaved, instant-impact transfer on her team, she’s far from alone in the NCAA Tournament field. All but one Sweet 16 team starts at least one transfer, and that lone team that doesn’t — Iowa — has a transfer contributing significantly off the bench. Seven of those teams’ leading scorers are transfers, and four more transfers are a team’s second-leading scorer.

Had no idea she has 3 years left, hmm:
1. Lauren Ware, Arizona, junior forward Ware missed this season as she recovered from knee surgery, but after her impressive sophomore season — 5.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in just less than 22 minutes per game — she was expected to be one of the best bigs in the Pac-12. With a medical redshirt from this season and her COVID-19 bonus year, Ware has up to three more seasons to play. There aren’t a ton of 6-foot-5 post players with 52 appearances, 24 starts and three seasons of eligibility on the board; she’ll earn a ton of interest.

LOL! All these postings about who Scott should go after or what positions need another body sounds like the game of snipe hunting.

LOL! All these postings about who Scott should go after or what positions need another body sounds like the game of snipe hunting. We actively recruited Ware when she was in high school, she may have even visited here. So there is history, she's not some random player.
