WBB portal already up to 315 names. Only 30 of those 315 averaged over 10ppg this season. Yikes. Is there a comprehensive site to look over the list/see stats?

I think Raoul's list is about as good as it gets. Follow that at wbbblog.com He only list a little over 100 so far, but they are coming in fast. If someone knows of another good site for this information, I'd like to see it as well.

But I will continue to say it through portal season; we do not need a guard of any kind from the portal unless someone transfers out. This year's issues were largely chemistry issues and adding another guard would be even worse than we saw this year. hoopheritic
You and others have converted me from a fanatic "we must get a true point guard from the portal" to be competitive. I am now fully on board with your above statement
However, I still strongly hold to my position, that the current Coaching staff and players must improve significantly in their off season development over what has occurred the past couple of years.
Go Beavs!
True facts. To right the ship from back to back years of transfers the staff needs to prove to themselves, their players, and their fans that they can develop players. I firmly believe they have the pieces they need to be really good; now they need to execute. Bringing in "hired guns" shows a lack of confidence in an ability to develop talent. We have the core we need to not just be good but to be really good: The best post player in the 2022 class, a couple of certified snipers, an elite iso bully baller, the most athletic multi-position player in the Pac 12, and a 6'3" matchup problem. If you can't win with that lineup the problem is not the roster. And a ball dominant PG (let the read understand "elite pg") would only stifle ball movement. You need an elite PG when you don't have a lot of weapons and you need to maximize what you do have.

The coaches have the choice, go with what you've got and hope you don't have another injury (or transfer) that siderails the team, or add quality depth. Not adding depth, has hurt the team for several years in a roll now. It will be interesting to see if that remains the plan.

Louisville is losing two highly ranked freshman guards. Zyann Walker, hoopgurlz #38 and Jalyn Brown, hoopgurlz #78 are entering the portal. Neither saw much floor action in their freshman campaign. This, after losing Payton Verhulst earlier in the season to Oklahoma.

You need an elite PG when you don't have a lot of weapons and you need to maximize what you do have. I'm not exactly sure about which players you're matching with these descriptions. I mean, Beers is obviously the post player and the certified snipers are probably Blacklock and Hansford (and/or TVO)...but after that...the iso bully baller could be Beers or maybe TVO...the most athletic multi-position player in the Pac-12 (? Gardiner maybe?) and a 6-3 matchup problem (Gardiner)...so I'm assuming all five descriptions aren't meant to match five separate players.... As far as the elite point guard, I don't think you have to have a great scorer at the point but you do need a very good ballhandler who has the speed and skill to handle intense pressure as well as good passing skills to distribute the ball and decent offensive ability (can hit outside shots and score on drives). There have been plenty of point guards that fit this and were considered to be elite or at least very good.

The portal opens in a few days, but some are already letting it be known they are going to enter the portal. A lot of talk on this board about needing a PG. Here's one who has already said she is going to enter the portal. Kentucky's Sophomore PG 5'7" Jada Walker 12.9ppg, 3.1rpg 3.1apg. Played along side former duck Maddie Scheer this year. Chose Kentucky in 2020 over Michigan, Arizona, NC State and others. She's from Virginia, so I would expect her to stay back east, but I said that about Treasure Hunt who played at Kentucky last year, and transferred to Arizona State this season. I see Kentucky is also losing 5' 8" freshman guard Kennedy Cambridge. Kennedy originally chose Kentucky over Auburn and Ole Miss. Jenny Huth has started following her on twitter. Another interesting follow of Jenny's is 6'1" Fanta Gassama, who is a sophomore at Southern Georgia Tech JC. Fanta is from Spain. She plays Center for her JC team and is averaging 13.4ppg, and 13.1rpg. Jenny is also following Fanta's head coach at SGTC. Following these players doesn't really doesn't mean there's any action going on, but hey, what else do we have to talk about?

A question for you.
Clearly our two new high school recruits from the state of Oregon have areas of their game that could use significant improvement prior to their first season with the team.
Under NCAA rules (are there still any?) how much advisement, guidance, assistance may the OSU coaching staff provide them prior to the official start of practice?
I am very skeptical about many of the potential transfers.
It seems to so often play out that they are looking for their situation to improve by switching teams rather than the player improving their play.
I know that is a generalization and does not apply to all (Bendu was clearly an exception) but I believe the Beavs would be better served by players who want to be there from the beginning and stay till the end of their eligibility.

They are due for an Italy trip this year, so at least they should have that (unless the pandemic altered the every 4-year schedule).

How many games did you watch to base this comment? I watched several from each team and would say that they need improvement but certainly no more than normal.

Yes there are very clear rules regarding summer practices as to when, how much, what kind, and with whom. Either Google or search this site, I know I've posted the rules.

You have a good reason to be skeptical about players transferring. And the reason you stated is very valid. Some times it is the parents pushing for a change, this is not strictly a Beaver issue it is more widespread than that.

Really not getting all the anti-transfer sentiment. All of the transfers from OSU are playing in the dance now, helping their teams either hold serve after lots of talent departures, or radically improve in the case of Duke. Texas really benefited from transfers - I don’t think they are a tourney team without them. Not sure where all these “chemistry” concerns are, particularly since a couple of transfers have made a huge difference in recent years at OSU as well.

I'm not sure how big a role Brown and Corsdale played in Duke's improvement. Corsdale especially, she had a horrible season for someone with her experience, 30% from the field and 22% from 3 and three points a game.
Kampschroeder was an afterthought at Michigan late in the season, getting very little court time.
Glad they 're able to play in the tournament. But don't overestimate their contributions.

My point is more that they clearly didn’t cause chemistry problems. Two of the four transfers were starters, so that’s making an impact. And Corosdale likely has had a lot more of an impact than her numbers would state from a leadership standpoint. Agree that Kampenschroeder did less for Michigan than she did for OSU last year.
