View AttachmentHad they raised more money, it could have looked like that. And it would have been an improvement over the actual original stadium, parts of which did last for almost 70 years.

Looks like after 70 years were going to get a close version of it!

Definite improvement over what we ended up with in 1953. Assuming quality design and construction (steel beam and concrete) we might still be using the stadium today although the small centers on the supporting posts could have made designing interior amenities a challenge. The projected seating capacity was 30,000. The overhanging roofs (supported by sightline infringing posts) could have been replaced with short decks/pressbox/suites as needed. Would have been way cheaper than what we have been doing.
Don't know the story about what happened, who designed it and how far the review process got before it was scrapped. We had the misfortune of needing a replacement stadium immediately (Bell Field was wooden, was rotting, and was downright dangerous) during a period when Oregon State football was in the toilet. Kip Taylor years. Doubt that helped fundraising efforts.

Reminds me of the old Hayward Field.

Before Valley center, Parker was something like 41,000 without as much East side or end zone seating as that rendering.

Kip Taylor years. Doubt that helped fundraising efforts. That seating capacity looks like way more than 30,000 if it has any relationship to the actual completed Parker Stadium. Before Valley center, Parker was something like 41,000 without as much East side or end zone seating as that rendering. 30,000 is what was stated in an article I read about the stadium history. And it has no relationship to the actual completed Parker. The original sideline seats of Parker were 40 rows, resulting in a seating capacity of 25,000. That was with very little endzone seating if you've looked at original pictures. Bleacher seating was added to the endzones later and the West grandstand was extended to 82 rows. Getting back to "Proposed Parker," If you look at the drawing closely, the endzone seats are nearly as high as the sideline seats. So, if the sideline seats were actually 40 rows (as the completed Parker sidelines were) the stadium capacity would be far in excess of 30,000, probably somewhere in the low 40 range. But in 1953, 30,000 was plenty. By way of comparison, Bell Field, the stadium Parker replaced, only seated 20,000.

I like the flags around the endzones though.
