Would love to get some better video coverage, but it's better than nothing! I remember playing Minn is a SR, their PBP guy was on Joe Beaver show. He was the football PBP guy who said they don’t cover regular season baseball, but only did it for tourney. it was then that I realized we were spoiled rotten. Not sure if we are spoiled rotten. More like we've won national championships, and along with that comes more investment in the program....and expectations from fans.......but point taken.

Staff has 12 games to fit the right pieces into the jigsaw puzzle. About 108 innings of observation and analysis before opening conference play with the Cougars. What can this player contribute?, how and where can he help us win a game?
Staff has position versatility with this team - need to see some players in different roles. Staff is in the Lab with test tubes. Assume nothing in terms of the finished product - starters, platooning, match-ups, position switches and batting orders. Part of the puzzle is complete (Garrett, Travis, Kyle, Tanner, etc.) but the finished puzzle will be under construction until WSU.

Outfield is opening, I’m thinking Turley and Cedillo are really locks. Only LF or a move by Cedillo to LF is what’s still being evaluated. I really like how the pitching staff was handled today. Brilliant by Dorman. Really findinff the roles there will be key for the overall results this season.

I think we're going to see pretty extreme lineup changes all year based on the starting pitcher (L/R). Were just loaded with talent. There are a few guys who are good enough bats for them to go no matter at this point (Baz, Forrester, Smith, Turley).
Outfield Talt (L), McDowell (L), Kasper (L) Turley (R), Cedillo (R), Reeder (R), Peterson (R),
Infield Wheeler (L), Kennel (L), Bazzana (L), Macias (S) Smith (R), Weber (R), Kane (R), Guerra (R), Dernedde (R), Krieg (R), Forrester (R)
Hopefully Calpoly is solid this year so we can get a form lineup that is ready for P12 arms. For instance Dernedde has looked great in the last two games but that was against arms that would likely not see playing time on many PAC squads. McDowell did great this summer and has looked much improved so far but can he compete against Stanford? We need guys to extend their AB and get on base and there sure is alot of options.

Is Cedillo hurt? Does he really have the speed and arm to play center? Just asking.

Is Cedillo hurt? Does he really have the speed and arm to play center? Just asking. Haven't heard anything. Our depth is very unproven in the outfield so Id guess they are just getting young guys reps. Cedillo, Kasper, and MM are the only ones with more than 40 AB in college unless we count Guerra as an outfielder.

On the pregame show yesterday, Mitch didn't say anything about an injury, sounded like Cedillo was sitting since a lefthander was pitching.

"Great defenses begin with strength up the middle" - C, 2B,SS, CF. Good play in Center Field requires reaction, speed, vision, throwing and range. So, how well do your CF candidates grade out in those areas? We haven't seen Reeder yet.
Fielding % tells you only how the OF performed on the balls he was able to play . . . never the balls he SHOULD HAVE MADE A PLAY ON. Routine is rewarded statistically but scouts are looking for making the difficult play.
Reed was our best defensive candidate in CF but he's not available this year.

From what I've seen of Cedillo, he's not a guy who will be platooned based on the opposing pitcher......as good as McDowell has been, I don't think he is relegating Cedillo to the bench. I think it's either the coaches are messing with the lineup and Cedillo is just getting a couple days off, or he's sick, or injured.....otherwise, he's in the lineup.
