Joint statement from the 10 Pac-12 Conference Board Members
"The 10 Pac-12 universities look forward to consummating successful media rights deal(s) in the very near future. Based upon positive conversations with multiple potential media rights partners over the past weeks, we remain highly confident in our future growth and success as a conference and united in our commitment to one another."

I think we know something very solid in the next month or so. Complex process. Multiple networks,potential new PAC-12 teams,streaming or not streaming,and more. It's not like re-upping with the same network like the Big 8 did. I think the PAC-12 network will be a nice piece the conference has already in place,regardless of your opinions of how poorly or not it has been in your area. Some areas don't even have the PAC-12 network.

This is great news. They wouldn't put it out there if they weren't close. Despite what some interweb geniuses say, the remaining 10 are pretty committed to staying together through the next TV contract, from what I have heard from some pretty good sources. Changing conferences is not easy, convenient, or popular with much of the fan base.
Again, the Big 12 can GFI.

Despite what some interweb geniuses say, the remaining 10 are pretty committed to staying together through the next TV contract, from what I have heard from some pretty good sources. Changing conferences is not easy, convenient, or popular with much of the fan base. Again, the Big 12 can GFI. I'm sure the Big 12 is looking hard at CU and UU along with the Arizona schools. That would give them a 16 team superconference and would add some legitimate universities to their roster. But is there some sort of a merger that would make sense where there are 12 teams in each division and a conference championship that virtually guarantees it is not a replay of a previous meeting? |

Even roadies to the crap teams like Boston College or VTech would be fun. A one and done with UCF or Texas Tech or God forbid BYU excites me not at all Central Florida would be fun. I hear great things about the Texas Tech bar scene. Provo is beautiful in the Fall. Ames, Lawrence, Manhattan, Morgantown, and Stillwater, though. Woof! I don't know that anyone wants to go to Cincinnati either. You have to cross the Ohio at least twice to get in and out of there. I don't know that anyone really, really wants to go to Tallahassee. Coral Gables, Gainesville, Orlando, and Tampa beat Tallahassee easy. Syracuse is also rough. Winston-Salem? And I don't think that anyone who has ever been to Blacksburg or Charlottesville ever really wants to go back. All of the stories that I hear out of Western Virginia, deep in the beating heart of Appalachia, make me think that no one should ever seriously be desirous to travel there. Like a completely different world and not a great one. Also, Clemson is named after the university, which should tell you about what's there. The stadiums might be cool. But there are a lot of dogs in the ACC, as well. |

Virginia Tech is trash, though. 3-8 under first-year coach Brent Pry. Unwatchable football. Frank Beamer was Virginia Tech football. Without him, it is lightly-attended trash-ball in the Appalachians. 10 years ago, yeah. Virginia Tech's gameday atmosphere was great! But gameday atmosphere rises and falls with a team's fortunes. And the Hokies are in freefall. Central Florida plays at the Citrus Bowl. And South Florida plays at the New Sombrero. Both are great places to play and are in great locations. Unlike Blacksburg. Lubbock and Waco are fun, if you know the right people. |

An "analysis" from the bastion of unbiased sports journalism, Heartland College Sports titled "The Big 12 Thrives While the Pac-12 Nose Dives" ( link) still manages to raise some good questions: - why hasn't George closed any deal? - will attractive evening slots get soaked up by UCLA/USC? - are media companies beating a path to George's house? - why are other conferences appearing to take action and make constructive moves while the Pac-10 is, in the words of the article, "twiddling their thumbs"? My hope is that George is a pleasant surprise at the end of the day, but at the end of today I am left wondering...... Interesting times. Go Beavers! |

My family had an incredibly wonderful visit to Utah/Provo/BYU - now granted it was in July, we flew into SLC to do the 5 national parks and then Las Vegas, and our only BYU encounter was because some art museum on the campus was hosting a world-class Origami exhibit and one of my children was obsessed with origami at the time...... Given the wonderful time we had, I could likely sell my family on a September trip duplicating what we did modulo taking in a game.......which begs the question: what made the BYU fans "the worst fans on the planet"?? My sincere plea is if you take umbrage with the fans religious leanings, just say that and leave it at that since my question is not trying to go down some religious belief rathole, but I suspect there is more to your story than what those fans might be up to on Sunday mornings.......and I am literally quite interested in how their behavior had you rate them below/above? uo fans. I went to SDSU when BYU and SDSU had a healthy rivalry in the WAC...they travel well no doubt. But they are drunken nasty f%#*s who start fights in packs. Also listening to the drunk dickhead BYU fans yelling nasty s%#t to Sean Canfield about his mom at LV bowl...that sucked. I cant vouch for this, but my ex FIL used to run the chains at home SDSU games. He says BYU players drop the N word more in one game talking s%#t to SDSU players than the entire Death Row catalog. |
