Big time hire. He is potentially an upgrade. Two for the price of one--background as recruiting coordinator can't hurt.

Seems like a good hire. After doing some quick research, I think "He’s developed a lot of stud RBs the past decade" is a bit of a stretch though. He coached Doug Martin and Jay Ajayi at Boise State from 2009-2013. Since then, Myles Gaskin is the only "stud" RB that I remember. Maybe there are others that I'm not seeing. Fortunately, he'll be coaching some "stud" RB's next year! I don't think counting up NFL RBs is the best measure. A better measure is that in most years (not all) but most years his teams had solid rushing stats. A couple top 10 national finishes in YPC, lots of solid finishes in rushing TDs... and always generally on a balanced or even passing favored offenses so he wasn't building volume stats. Looking at how his teams finished when he was the primary RB coach shows me he is a solid RB coach.

Solid rushing attacks can be more about offensive line and less about RB recruiting. All things being equal, I like the NFL caliber player. That says a lot about developing and knowing what you can mold from what you saw at the high school level.
