Just wondering if the "injury situation" over the past few years with the team may have had a lot to do with their recent lack of success.
The last few years the team seemingly has had individual injuries/illness/medical conditions that seem to go on and on.
The latest is of course Timea who has now been out for months with seemingly no return in sight.
If there is anyone who can shed some light on how the Beaver's medical staff/resources/etc. stack up with other similar staff/resources/etc. of other teams in the conference that information would be much appreciated.
Not sure if even with Timea this team is going to do very well, but it sure seems likely that without her it seems almost certain.

Timea’s return has been talked about much more recently, so I do think it’s “in sight.”
At this point — there’s still a lot of questions to be asked in regards to her return. How quickly will she acclimate to Pac-12 play? How long will she need to get in shape? etc.
She’s really our only true PF, so I have to assume she’ll have some sort of impact, and I think she’s got the skills to be an impact player right away, but will it be enough to get us into the top half of the Pac-12 is the question.

No, and if she isn't playing by mid Jan., write her off this year. Top half seems like a far reach now, next 2 weeks will tell.....

I was encouraged to see Jelena warming up last night, but then she didn’t play. She seemed to move well, so maybe the knee injury vs LSU was not a big deal, but I am begining to wonder. Does anyone know anything more about her status? There was no audio link to the pregame show last night; if any of you heard it, was anything said about Jelena?

Taylor has again miss all games in Dec this year so far at Texas and Taya has missed 5 games already at Duke and minutes played recently suggest she’s not yet healthy. So we’ve had a roster of pretty tough luck players for sure. Injuries are part of the game though, and Rueck doesn’t like to use all his scholarships, so some of that is on his philosophy there. UConm has lost their best player now for whole seasons twice and keeps in the mix. Good programs find ways to overcome.

Timea's return is defiantly in sight. My best guess is you'll see Timea for the Arizona schools...if not before. If it was me...I would have a conversation with my parents and coaching staff about the possibility of "red-shirting." That's just me though. Jelena could have played last night....from what I heard. I have a hunch they knew they didn't need her and wanted her to rest the knee.

How can she 'return' to playing when she's yet to play a minute?

What are the redshirt rules for basketball? Can Timea play a few games and still redshirt?

You're taking the definition a little too far! I think we all understand "return" in this case means returning to play minute number 1. She did do summer workouts.

An athlete can qualify for this exemption if she has a documented, incapacitating injury or illness that occurred in the first half of the basketball season and the student-athlete has not participated in more than two contests or dates of competition or 20 percent of her team's scheduled contests, whichever number is greater.

Yeah...... that was the time frame I was thinking ...by January 14th and about 4 weeks to gel with the rest of the team puts her at about Mid February for about two weeks at the end of the season. So your right about a two week window left. So why not red shirt at this point? Must win at home this weekend series too.
