I think there were 2 guys that played in this game that were on the team last year. Most of the new guys are freshman or returning from injury. There’s going to be some struggle this year. There’s some good players out. Enjoy watching them grow and don’t expect perfection this year. |

I don't care who we play it's always good to win.
Lot's to improve on but I like watching this team, which I couldn't say last year.

I got down to the game too - Tinkle saying that Pope was sick made his on-court performance make more sense - just wasn't anywhere near as aggressive as usual. Game would've broken open earlier but our young bigs (Bilodeau and Rataj) just couldn't get looks to drop. It was a shame too because both did nice work in the post to get their looks. Obviously energy in the arena was pretty low without any students, a 10-person volunteer pep band and 1500-2000 fans. But got the win and that works for now.

Very strange game indeed. I see here that Pope was under the weather. Anyone know why Ryuny played only 23 minutes after he’s been averaging 30+ last 4 games? I never felt the game was ever in doubt. With some of the weird combinations on the court, I started to wonder if WT wasn’t almost treating the game like a scrimmage/exhibition just trying didn’t combinations and knowing they could turn it on at the end when he finally put Pope and Ryuny in. Highly unlikely I know, but it just had that feel.
Best game we’ve seen out of Taylor in some time. Was actually finishing his drives. Now need to see whether that was just a case of going against weaker competition or if he can keep it up. Liked his interview after the game too. Seemed to have taken the move out of starting lineup in stride and learned from it. Keeps playing like that and likely will keep starting.
Rest of the team played OK. Rochelin and Bilodeau looked pretty good. If Rataj can learn to stay out of foul trouble, he’s gonna be a plus for the team. And I think I say it every postgame post, but damn is Pope fun to watch. Quite a player — especially for a frosh.
