That's a lot of explanations. I hope that it will get the portal under control. If not then I fear that the top 10% programs will get a lot better and the rest lose ground to them.

Given the way SR builds a roster I don't expect he needs to go to the portal at all this off season assuming nobody transfers and Jelena and Noelle stick around.
I truly believe Timea will be the leading scorer next year and Raegan 2nd. Talia has been great but her game is not one I would build a team around.
So who might transfer? I think AJ is most likely as many have mentioned here; SR either gave up on her and/or isn't good at getting the most out of really athletic players. His best players have always been extremely fundamentally sound but not elite athletes.
Next I think Adlee may bounce as there's a backlog of spot up three shooters who aren't creators when the '23s show up. Which is the right move for a team building around Timea and Reagan.
The dark horse is Talia. Does she want to be a role player or the first and last scoring option?

I have no idea if Adlee (or anyone) will leave but Shuler is a point guard and Hunter might fit there as well, so I don't think the incoming players really fit in that spot-up 3 shooters who aren't creators mode. They need someone to step up at point guard. I'm hoping Rueck finds one in the portal just in case. I don't think Martha is a big minutes player, though she fits the point guard mold better than anyone else on the roster right now.

In my experience, running a recruiting service, the best player on most girls high school teams will play at the point regardless of where they end up playing in college. Notes on Shuler are thin across the recruiting networks. She looks like she can handle the ball just fine but I wouldn't expect her to be a Pac12 ready PG. That said, I lean toward the modern game so I don't think a pure PG is needed. So I'm not as hungry for OSU to find another PG. Martha will be fine and we have enough ball handlers and defenders to deal with small teams.

I see players at the very least playing the point guard role for each team during every women's basketball game I watch. It hasn't gone away and it never will. Yeaney's actually very close to being able to match a "pure" point guard's skillset. But she lacks consistency with her passing and perimeter shooting.

I'm always for picking up point guards, they are easy to move to the 2 or 3. I've seen a few games of the new recruits and must say that I like Donovyn as a point guard. She is not far from a good one. She has the size and strength to be physical.
Kennedie has a couple bad habits and once she gets over the she could also play the point of needed. I like her shooting form and she could become a dangerous three point shooter.
That said, I still would like to see a point guard from the portal.

I agree with your above post 100%. My added comment would be that to be effective the point guard must be reasonably good at passing/dribbling /perimeter shooting /defense (the skillset you mentioned).
If there is a significant major weakness in any area then your team has a real problem.
Bendu is a terrific athlete, a good leader, excellent defender. The problem as you mentioned is that she has significant weakness in both passing ability and her outside and mid range shooting is bad enough that teams totally sag off of her.
The ability to break down defenders , penetrate into the key, and then either score or pass off to other team mates for scores is the added bonus that really good teams have.
Aleah was the last person OSU had that could do this and she was self made. She was not natural but just worked so hard till she made it happen.
My wish is that SR would awake to the reality of the situation and make whatever changes are necessary to start attracting talented potential point guards. Clearly "business as usual" has created a fast elevator ride to the PAC 12 basement/

The dark horse is Talia. Does she want to be a role player or the first and last scoring option? I'm hoping nobody leaves, but my first guess would be Shalexxus. She's already been in college for 6 years, and although I don't think she will transfer, I won't be surprised if she hangs it up, or decides to play oversees after this season. If she still needs some work getting the Masters she wants, perhaps she will stick around, but 7 years playing college ball is a long time. I'll be mildly surprised if Timea is the leading scorer next season, although she does appear to be a better scorer than I anticipated as a freshman. I also think it would be a mistake for AJ, Adlee, or Lily to transfer, as I think they all will play a strong role for the Beavs in years to come. AJ has so much potential I would hate for her to leave. I'm not close enough to the program to know this for sure, but I think the freshman and sophomores are tight and want to build something together. That doesn't mean that Lily or Adlee wouldn't leave if they thought they could play more and be closer to home. I hope they stick around, and if not, I hope they make their decision early so the Beavs have plenty of time to look for a replacement. I also think the Beavs need to land another 4 or 5 position player in the portal, or in the late singing period (perhaps oversees). Having only Jelena, Ragan, and Timea is just not enough depth, as this season showed us with Timea's injury. I don't really care if we land a point guard per se, but an experienced point, or combo guard who can shoot the 3 and score would be huge. I do think Donovyn could have a real shot at minutes next season because of her passing ability and defense and her rapid improvement since her injuries.
