OSU is very very close to having a 1000 yard rusher and two 500 yard rushers.
We ever done this before?
Martinez: 970 Griffen: 486 Fenwick: 446

Just checked back to 1998, If it happened it was before Riley's first go around.(Since we sucked for 28 years, I doubt it happened in those years)
I'll leave it to the 'Wilkynator' to go through the Dee Andros, Prothro, & Stiner years.
I don't have the patience to go down that route.

Its probably a good thing all our games werent broadcasted back then.

OSU is very very close to having a 1000 yard rusher and two 500 yard rushers. We ever done this before? Martinez: 970 Griffen: 486 Fenwick: 446 No. According to the media guide, no Oregon State team has had a 1,000-yard rusher with two 500 yard rushers. For perspective, all-time Oregon State team rushing records according to the media guide: 1. 1993 3,254 2. 1994 3,072 3. 2021 2,761 4. 1968 2,652 5. 1996 2,539 6. 1970 2,511 7. 1957 2,478 8. 1992 2,452 9. 1971 2,439 10. 2022 2,390
So, how did the top three look each year?
1957 Nub Beamer 760 Joe Francis 626 Earnel Durden 398
1968 Bill Enyart 1,304 Billy Main 634 Don Summers 283
1970 Dave Schilling 1,084 Bill Carlquist 339 Sal Cirrincione 295
1971 Dave Schilling 833 Roger Smith 483 Bill Carlquist 331
1992 Mark Olford 525 Dwayne Owens 415 Chad Paulson 381
1993 J.J. Young 955 Rahim Muhammad 400 Chad Paulson 383
1994 J.J. Young 891 Don Shanklin 630 J.D. Stewart 499
1996 Akili King 740 Tim Alexander 566 Darron Kirkman 566
2021 B.J. Baylor 1,337 Deshaun Fenwick 448 Trey Lowe 359
2022 Damien Martinez 970 Jamious Griffin 486 Deshaun Fenwick 446
The top thing that jumps out to me? Enyart and Main combined for 1,938 yards in 10 games, which is more yards that Martinez, Griffin, and Fenwick combined for in 12 games. Ridiculous what Main and, particularly, Enyart was able to do while he was here.
From looking at the list, Oregon State has had primary, secondary, and tertiary runners who have tallied more yards, just never in the same year.

Our 2 back record I'm guessing is Simonton and McCall with 2217 yds in 2000 (12 games).
As for Enyart, I think he had one 299 yd game in 1968 with about 50 carries. Unreal. Andros really worked those fullbacks.

Andros really worked those fullbacks. According to Playboy, Oregon State was the #1 team in America entering 1968. Oregon State scored in the second quarter but missed an extra point. Iowa scored with 13:02 left to go up 21-20. The Beavers got the ball back but Steve Preece went out with a dislocated left shoulder with about eight minutes left. Gary Barton relieved Preece, but the offense fumbled with 4:39 left and Barton threw a pick with 2:03 left to just about seal the Hawkeye upset. The following weekend against Utah, Preece was still out. Dee Andros named Bobby Mayes, the starting wingback, the starting quarterback. Mayes wrote everything that he could on his arms for the game. Andros told Mayes that, if he ever got confused, he was just to hand the ball off to Enyart. And Mayes did just that. Enyart wound up with 50 carries for 299 yards. Crazy game. Oregon State ran 97 plays, 93 running plays. And 50 of those were to Enyart.

Talking heads saw Simonton and Niner coming back from the 00 team and thought we would be just as good. Basically losing all the depth of both lines killed that team’s chance of repeated success. Seeing the offensive line pretty much intact and most likely BETTER than this year, gives me hope this isn’t a flash in the pan. IF, and that’s a BIG IF, we get Kitan and Omar back, I REALLY like OSU’s chances to be in the thick of the Rose Bowl hunt. Next year is gonna be fun.

I don't even need to pin big hopes on DJU, I just know that the QB room got better. And Smitty and Co seem to be mad scientists a bit. With the way that this staff creatively uses personnel, even if he doesn't immediately take over the starting position, he's the new Jackhammer in short yardage packages from Day One. I don't mean to do a disservice to Jack and say their skillsets are the same. We aren't going to see DJU play fullback, but for sure he's gonna be under center for short yardage plays because he's way more dangerous as a runner than Ben. Defenses will stack the box at their own peril on 3rd and short or even 4th and short with DJU's arm talent.

The 2001 team also lost the majority of their WR core, their stud DE’s and a lot of other defensive starters. They should never have sniffed the SI #1 ranking. For next year, I’m concerned about the leaders we are losing and some core members of the D. Colletto, Grant, Wright, and potentially Oladipo and Speights are big shoes to fill. My expectation is still 8 wins, but will be happy with more😀
