Nice win. Very good defensive effort against a good team. Offense not so much. Sometimes I think Rueck is like a defensive coordinator in football that gets a head coaching job but doesn't quite know what to do on offense. But we all know this team is going to be on a growth trend for a big chunk of the season being pretty young and not even having added Timea to the mix yet.

I think it's time to start Martha. The number of points she scored were not much less than the number of minutes she played, which if you think about it is always a pretty good stat (0/0 not withstanding).
She was the bright light shining offensively on an otherwise pretty dismal shooting day.

she not only scored but the ball moves much better and faster when she is in the game. Why isn't she playing point?

Pretty solid second half really after only scoring 21 pts in the first half. Good defense the whole game, despite giving up some late 3’s. Bendu was a real disrupter, 6 steals. Hopefully Rueck lets her keep doing that, even though I know he discourages gambling on defenses. She has the quickest hands on the squad easily.
Impressed with Beers. I think (if she stays and with the portal, who knows??) she’ll go out of the program as one of Rueck’s best 5’s and maybe his best offensive rebounder. She had a great knack for reading her team mates shots and being in the right place. She does need to do some work at the free throw line though. Both her and Mitrovic need to get proficient at the 15-18 shot…several wide open looks that got passed up, particularly Beers. I’m yelling “shoot that” at the screen, lol.

A team rebounds is a missed first free throw or a rebound that bounces OOB (for example). Every missed shot must have a rebound and it's credited as a team rebound in those (and a few other) circumstances, since it can't be given to an individual.

Gee, why don't the Beav's go inside? Because the other teams know that currently the Beav's are horrible at the 3 so when we try to go inside most of the other team is standing there waiting for us. Almost all of those missed 3 point shots were open, just missed them is all.
At the start of the game the Beav's were losing the rebound battle and also losing the game. We won the rebound battle for the rest of the game and we won the game in points. This is the difference that I think Timea could make for the Beav's and what they will be like until she can play.
Martha is doing great for the Team so far. She has never stunned me with an amazing pass, but she wasn't left me wondering why she made a pass also.
The Beav's were sent flying by the JS players a lot (I was worried about whether Martha was going to get up after one shot) and yet the fouling was only 19 to 12. JS players were playing real close to outright dangerous.
Bendu's shooting wasn't wonderful, but today was the first time I saw the defensive player I expected when she came to OSU. And 8 rebounds is going a long way to getting the win.

The coaches mentioned in the radio pre-game that Jackson St. is a very good rebounding team and rebounding had been a focus point in their preparation. I think the Beavs did pretty well in that regard. Also, turnovers were pretty low, considering how athletic Jackson St. is. Another plus… we held Angel Jackson in check. I was surprised at how much they played #11 (the big eyelashes) in her place; she really wasn’t very good. Seems like Jackson is in good shape and should have been able to play most of the game.
There were a few minutes (I think in the 1st half) when the Beavers were impressively whipping the ball around and getting the open shots. That would have been great if they were hitting them; maybe that’s why that style didn’t last very long. Perhaps Lily should have been given a few minutes to take advantage of the good ball movement.
Overall, I’m seeing improvement. Not sure if it is enough to compete with TDSR.

Overall, I’m seeing improvement. Not sure if it is enough to compete with TDSR. Number 11, White, probably just had an off game. She only played 9 minutes according to the stats and still picked up four fouls. According to season long stats she is ordinarily much more effective on offense than Jackson. Players will do that. Have off games. Some times it depends on the match ups the face. Jackson statistically is a better defender and rebounder than her however. As has been mentioned, Jacksons strength has usually been the post play they get from White and Jackson, but they were our produced in this game by the Beaves.

Yeah, it's becoming more and more evident that Pietsch should get more minutes and that what Bendu brings to the court is invaluable and really can't be matched. Obviously that means fewer minutes for Mannen as time goes on. I'm fine with that. I really think Mannen is best in the role of a spark off the bench. She can jump in with her energy and scrappy play and lift the team if things are kind of getting bogged down or whatever. It potentially could be a very important role for her as well.

JFC, six or seven games into the season and you're talking about someone possibly transferring?
