I wonder if Pietsch was somewhat under the weather up in Portland. If memory serves, she didn't get in at all against Iowa and not much against Duke. From early observations, I like her game better than Mannen's.
Blacklock seems to be pressing a bit too much - hurries her shot some, commits too many fouls. In short, she's doing what about 300,000 freshmen have done before her. She just needs to relax a bit and let it come to her, and I'm sure the coaches communicate that to all freshmen all the time.
I've gone to the kids game in the past, and it is fun. (And it always amazes me how well behaved they are.) I wasn't sure they'd honor my parking pass, however, so I decided to stay home this year.

23 out of the 52 shots (44%) the Beav's took were from the 3 point range. This is much higher than their average and seems to indicate that Southern was stuffing the inside at the expense of their outside coverage. But I didn't see the game so I don't know. But for the grins-
What other teams shot from the 3- vs what Southern shot from the 3 against them-
Oregon- 36.7% 33.3% Iowa St.- 24.2% 44.4% Iowa- 30.6% 35.3% Oregon St.- 65.2% 30.8%
Not sure it means much but it sure looks nice.

SU is terrible. I wouldn’t take too much out of this one, except that there are a lot of kids that got to watch some hoops.

On Pietsch, I don't think so, but SR did mention after the game that he thought something started to click about 1.5 weeks ago for her. So I'm guessing she's finally stopped pressing and has adjusted to the playing style in the US. SR mentioned that while she didn't get much PT as an amateur on a pro team in Europe, she was backing up a very good professional PG, so got to learn a lot in practice there. Given how much SR generally doesn't like undersized players, there must be something he really likes about Pietsch.
