Sounds expensive.

Texas might have been better off starting him the whole season rather than Ewers. I know Ewers was an ultra high level recruit but had some very inconsistent games. Card probably wouldn't look seriously at OSU. I hope he doesn't land at UO.

Enterprise rent-a-QB? Honestly, if he decided to leave, I wouldn't be surprised if we pursued the big QB at Boise St. He was HS teammates with Martinez.

How about Cade McNamara the Michigan back-up who is in the portal? Originally from Reno Nevada. Beat Tosu last year. Maybe?

Just pure speculation but talk is that Penix may return to the UW for one more year, if so I bet Sam Huard the former 5 star moves to a place he can play now.

Penix has no reason to come back. He may come back, but I would be surprised if he did. He has an NFL arm.

Card probably wouldn't look seriously at OSU. I hope he doesn't land at UO. Why wouldn't he look seriously at OSU? According to the ESPN article: "A source told ESPN that Card is targeting a Power 5 school as his next destination, and he's prioritizing a winning program and the opportunity to develop." We're ranked 15 in the cfp poll and, in terms of opportunity to develop, our QB room would seem to be a place of opportunity. Probably more so than any other top 15 program. Geography may be an obstacle. He went to high school in Austin and then UT. May prefer to stay in Texas, or at least closer to home than the PNW.

If a good QB is looking to land somewhere, take over and show his stuff in a really strong program, were awesome. If they are looking for 100k in NIL then were probably screwed.

I suspect the portal will fill up with lots of QBs. Butterfield just decided he wants out of Eugene, for instance.

I think these guys are chasing playing time and NIL money. Do we know what a guy like Card was getting paid at UT?
No one wants to take a pay cut to move to a new job. LOL.
I keep thinking the NIL deals are more than $100k for a 5 star. I hear duck fans guessing that Nix could be making as much as his NFL signing bonus next year.... obviously a range on that depending on where you are drafted.
Wishing I could get my arms around how expensive a 5 star QB is these days. Words I've never thought I would type.

Talk on the board is that JT Daniels wanted 30 grand a month. That will eat up 100K pretty fast.

I believe it's the same deal uo gives their players.

I don't think OSU is more than a tiny blip on the radar for him. Could be wrong, you never know.
