That's right beaveragain, they showed Martha's dad was here, bummer. Her and Adlee the only ones that didn't play. Lily had 1 whole minute. So, at least Martha wasn't the only freshman not to get minutes, that would have been harsh. Attendance was 2299, the U of Zero didn't post it on their site for their UNC game, they always post it for other games. I know, I'm like a "dog on a bone" here, but they are so proud of their attendance in general, and this was likely an embarrassment, I don't know the number ,but it had to be lower than ours. You could hear our fans! Stats: osubeavers.com/sports/womens-basketball/stats/2022-23/iowa/boxscore/19666

In today's world when highly recruited athletes from many states or countries away don't get playing time they believe they should get it it is very tempting to look for minutes closer to home. Just saying.

We have some pieces, just need more time on the floor together. It was great to see UCONN team in person. Quite a contrast to our team in that ALL UCONN players are in motion 100% of the time. They never let up. When they take the ball out of the net and inbound it they are trying to fast break on you. A dead sprint down the court. My daughter also saw what a difference a great point guard (Nika Muhl) gives a team.
I was highly disappointed that Martha didn't play...OSU needs a point guard. Kennedy Schuler was in attendance, and I hope it inspired her to be ready to play next year. Coach still loves the high post screen at top of the key. Only issue is that 3 other players stand around.
Lex lit it up and that was great to see. I also saw Bendu posting up her defender in Q4, and boy is Bendu strong. We need more of Bendu posting up down low. Raegan is going to be great. Her instincts are solid when she receives the ball. Refs made some seriously questionable calls on Raegan which hurt our momentum.
I want to see our freshman get minutes in the Duke game. We're going to need them. Gotta say that Iowa impressed me more than I expected. Clark is amazing--before she receives the ball, she knows where she is going next. The kid is crazy good. But the rest of the team is good as well, especially Iowa's other guards.
I really believe we can hang with Duke. GO BEAVS!

Clark is an elite player. No doubt about it. She's got some Ionescu in her, but I think her quickness makes her much more potent offensively -- she also looks for her shot much more than Ionescu ever did.
There was a lot of concern about Bendu's scoring and efficiency. We need better than 4/16 from her. I'm also not sure that we want her taking 16 shots. She had a couple misses that weren't particularly close. I would prefer to see her getting to the rim more than settling for jumpers. Her strength and quickness are really impressive though. She'll be a huge addition to the team.
I'm assuming Scott doesn't think Lily, Adlee, and Martha are ready defensively. Lily came in and got blown right by and it led to an and-one. I love their potential but there's a reason they weren't top-100 recruits. It's going to take them time to develop and adjust to the college game. Our guard recruiting isn't where it needs to be IMO. Hopefully Donovyn and Kennedie are college-ready.

For the first three quarters of the game I was encouraged by how well the Beav's played in this game. The fourth was a real head scratcher, and I think I put blame on the coach. There was waaaay too much standing around, and they needed some fresh blood in there to stir things up. I don't know if the starters were too tired or what but coach needed to either put in someone else or call a timeout and kick some ass. Lex- Looks like the rust is off! Bendu- The first two games she's had a rough start offensively and then got it together. We tried leaving Bendu alone with Clark and that did NOT go well. With help after the half things went much better. AJ- She's starting to do fairly well in rebounding but on offense we need her to be the team energizer rodent (keeps replacing the obvious word) the and no one has pointed that out to her. Or the coaches schemes has her doing all of that standing around and someone needs to tell Scott that that's not useful. Mit- If she can keep herself positive about herself she can learn a lot from this game. Defensively her Rating was far better than anyone else on the team, and had twice the rebounds of anyone not named Clark. Her shots were over pumped, she needed someone to help her calm down (if that's possible) so that she could take time on her shots. Talia- Number 2 in both offensive and defensive Rating. The only person who did better was someone named Clark. Mannen- Seeing her pick Clarks pocket twice made the whole game for me. And yes, it's true that her playing so many minutes isn't ideal. But take a look at her +/-, she's either first or second in each game. Beers- I think adrenaline got the best of her. Martha- Really? Not 30 seconds at the end of the game? Her father all the way from Germany! Nothing? Really? Come on coach, have a heart. I didn't watch the game, so I have to rely on posters from this board and the official box score. I'm a big fan of Clark. She is the guard I wanted when the Beavs were chasing her, Van Lith, and Bueckers, but Clark is a Turn Over machine. If she was a Beaver, posters on this board would crucify her. She had 152 TO's last year (compared to 91 for Talia), which was about 5 per game. When you said you were happy to see Noelle pick Clark's pocket twice, I thought that sounded about right, but then I look at the box score, and it shows Clark with NO TO's. I really don't believe that. That's just not her game. Speaking of TO's, why am I not hearing how few TO's Talia has this season? Only a few games in, but she is keeping her TO's low so far. Before the game I thought if the Beavs kept the game within 15 pts, it would be a pretty good showing of early progress. We'll see how the Duke game goes. A poor showing would be a real setback. This team is young though, and not used to playing together. I think they still have a real shot of be a tough team to defeat at the end of the season.

One pick by Noelle turned into a jump ball after Clark tackled her trying to get the ball back. How is a jump ball recorded? The other pick was Noelle knocking the ball such that Clark just shoveled it away out of bounds before Noelle had clean control of it. But how was that not considered at least a TO?
