Any information on our two injured players? My perception is that we are not going to do very well if either or both of them are out for a long time.
Given that they seemingly have already been unable to play for over a month at least, the situation appears to be ominous.
Anybody have any good news about them?

It would be nice to have them back against EWU. Would give them two (hopefully) easy games to warm up with before Iowa. I think we'll really need Bendu's defensive presence against Iowa. Not sure the extent of their injuries or illnesses, but hopefully it won't take them too long to get to 100%.

Scott was asked about this at the brown bag this evening. As usual, no definitive statements. Bendu will be back first, but he didn't say he was hopeful for this weekend, or anything like that. He did reiterate, however, that both will play this year.

My guess is that both injuries are of the type that are easily aggravated and delay the healing further, so there’s a big disincentive to push their return in the early part of a long season. And while we all would love to see this team compete well, this is clearly a growing and learning year - so it’s not like they are gearing up for a deep run, at least in terms of expectations. I also wonder if Taylor’s struggles with injuries is making them more cautious as well.

Bendu posted this on Sunday, so I'm thinking she will be back soon. Purely a guess, but if not this week, I expect her back next week. It will be interesting though to see if she starts out on the bench and works her way to the starting lineup.

The first time we even knew of these issues were around when the first basketball games started. This frustrates me because the month of practices injuries were never mentioned? Giving us the feeling all was well. It’s strange are two best new players are both absent and this is a bit concerning. Half the team are all by degree have had knee injuries. But was there ever anything mentioned about that still as an issue prior to signing day. Now it might seem that is an possibility. Who knows for sure? I don’t?

Would love that at least Bendu was available for EWU. I assume you meant "our" two best players are absent (your post: "It’s strange are two best new players are both absent"). It's unfortunate that in these early games that both T. Gardner and Bendu are not on the court. But I kinda think that Beers might be one of OUR 'two best new players' - and she's shown several flashes of that, albeit against lower quality foes. It's still about 1.5 months before Conference play. I'll reserve judgement on the overall DEPTH, until then.

It is interesting to me that the Beavs could be holding practices for a month, or so, and not one person from the local newspaper, from the Barometer, from Beaver Blitz, from the Oregonian even took notice. It's not that hard to figure out when two key players are missing in action.....
It kinda brings home how little we actually know about the program.... Face it, not knowing that 2 of your 5 starters are not in working order is a damn big information gap....Are practices held at midnight? No one seems to know anything.
I'm NOT saying WBB has to tell us about every injury or illness, I know the rules.
What I am saying is there simply is no one paying enough attention to the program to bring important information to the fan's attention.... I can't imagine being a sportswriter who covered the Beavs and being so totally clueless about what is going on with the roster. GO BEAVS!!

What exactly are the rules? We knew right away that Nolan was concussion protocol/sprained neck, and we knew that Coletto had tweaked his hamstring. But we never hear anything about women's basketball players.
Come to think of it, when it was announce a couple of months ago that Paige Bueckers was going to miss the season, her injury was revealed. And wasn't Lauren Ware's injury info released?

Yeah, it's a little strange that injuries are often so vague. Why a little detail hurts I'll probably never understand. I do understand privacy laws and think we should respect a player's privacy, but you would think most players would agree about sharing minor injuries.....but I guess I'm wrong.
As for Beers, I've often stated she is going to be a monster, but I do think it's a little early to know what she will bring this season. Seattle had no big players, and nobody with the strength of Beers, and she showed what she can do playing against that level of talent. She'll be facing some good competitiion in the weeks to come and it will be fun to watch her develop. The next few years should be exciting.

They play Iowa the day after Thanksgiving and Duke or UConn two days later. Pretty sure those games will give everyone a good idea about where the Beavers are as a team in general as well as the depth situation. Certainly more than the first two games and probably Eastern Washington and Prairie View.

Not sure this means much other than undefeated KSU pulled off a big win at home and maybe Iowa's a little overrated at No. 4. Has no bearing on OSU's chances against the Hawkeyes and it certainly doesn't mean that Iowa is not among the better teams in the country.
