...you make your own conclusions, but try to stay away from thinking others have to agree with yours... that when apologies are needed! No one has to agree with me, nor did I ask for an apology. I am pointing out, however, that some people really went after Collins because of supposed attitutde problems with the implication or even direct accusation that a knee injury had nothing to do with his benching. I thought it was over the top, even considering that Collins does seem to have had moments of immaturity. People decided to condemn the 18 year old who wants nothing more to do a great job for OSU (and, yes, himself) and seems to have really given it his all ever since he arrived. No, I'm not saying that people have to agree with me. But those that wanted to condemn Collins based on speculation and innuendo...I've decided to condemn them.

Hmmmmm... condemning??? Never read any such crap. Observed/commented on negative behavior? Yep... Hoping coaches dealt with it? Yep...
Anything more is you making crap up.

No, I'm not saying that people have to agree with me. But those that wanted to condemn Collins based on speculation and innuendo...I've decided to condemn them. Again, the knee injury happened AFTER the benching. So what? If he got benched he got bench. And if he got benched it is because he is shaky in his accuracy and his decision making. his zone reads have not been great and he is missing open receivers. Mitchel to his part has shown better poise and command of the offense. he has made better reads in the zone game and largely threw better balls. Bringing some kind of horsepoop dialogue about a terrible attitude and temper tantrums and poor leadership is the stuff of trashy day time soap operas. and it is stupid. and it is distracting. and quite frankly it is what I would expect a Duck fan to say about our players. Not what beaver fans should be saying about their players. And more to the point. IF Collins indeed was kept home for "attitude" and if indeed he was "away from the team" because of some attitude issue... WHO GIVES A CRAP? Its not like he was beating his girlfriend and stomping puppies. it is not like we ACTUALLY have some kind of controversy here in any way shape or form. This isn't something like Riley starting Castro after his domestic violence arrest or Riley starting Brennan Ollander after he was ticketed for having a stolen bike. (both of which, I agree were not black and white issues). We possibly have a young kid that needs to gain some emotional maturity... like we all do when we are growing up. Hardly the stuff of day time TV here. We have a freshman kid struggling at the position that is probably being benched for performance and in that same week got himself hurt in a freak way. And that has all the tin foil hat wearers all up in a tissy, even though non-contact injuries are nothing new or even that rare. you know, things like Jordy Nelson blew out his acl running in a straight line, and Arian Foster blew out his achilles tendon running in a straight line and Steve Smith and Jaamal Charles... all "non contact injuries" that NOBODY is all suspicious about... Seth Collins hurts a knee in a backpeddling drill and suddenly the X-files are on the case here! This is a kid by all measures that wants to do well and is trying really hard. But for some ridiculous reason we have children on this board and other boards that are seeming to make it a mission to paint Collins like some kind of villain. Like some bratty, cocky prima donna that is a locker room cancer. Kid seems to have a target around his neck and I am not really sure why. Are we that bored in life this is the crap we toss around? or has the weight of a 2 win season really started to settle on us all? I agree with Seastape. people that want to condemn Collins on innuendo and conjecture have my condemnation... and ridicule. y'all ridiculous.

Come to think of it, was there ever a diagnosis announced for Caleb Smith? Mono was bandied about, but he was one of the players that visited kids at Randall Children's Hospital last month. Again, I'm not saying there's something fishy going on - if he was being punished or had a bad attitude, I highly doubt they'd send him to visit kids at a children's hospital. Then again, they wouldn't send a player with a contagious disease either. I just think it's a fair question to ask. 1: Mono is spread through saliva. What are you thinking he did with those kids? 2: To get a medical redshirt for a healthy kid a coach and AD would have to lie about the kid's condition to the NCAA. I doubt that is happening.

I doubt that is happening. 1: From the Mayo Clinic website: Infectious mononucleosis (mono) is often called the kissing disease. The virus that causes mono is transmitted through saliva, so you can get it through kissing, but you can also be exposed through a cough or sneeze, or by sharing a glass or food utensils with someone who has mono. I've had a family member at Randall before....you're not getting in there with a sniffle, so I doubt you're getting in when you've been diagnosed with mono in the past few weeks. 2: Again, I'm not saying that anyone's lying. I'm just saying that by not saying what he has, it opens up this kind of speculation. There's a perfectly good explanation for it - but we haven't heard it.

I apologized for my post on Scout . I was totally wrong about the way I wrote my post . I was not trying to dilute Seth's character rather just question the honesty of a knee injury from both him and the staff . I was not very tactful and for that I apologize again

Even if Caleb Smith had mononucleosis but no longer ill or contagious that doesn't mean he is "good to go". It's not very easy to bounce back from.
Also, it's getting pretty frustrating reading all the posts on this forum from people who seem to believe they have some sort of inside information even though they don't. Personally, I haven't had the interpretation of anything mysterious going on. People are reading way, way too much into the head coach's comments.

I'm seeing recommendations to avoid contact sports from one up to three months, depending on the physician, as fter contracting mono. Apparently football and enlarged spleens aren't a good mix.
