to get to the PAC-16:
Colorado State Utah State SDSU Fresno St. UNR UNLV
This is the best path forward IMO.
Make it happen!

Which would soon be the Pac 12 when AZ and Mountain schools bail for Big 12...then the Pac 10 once Oregon and Waahington jump ship Or...the Mountain West ok Debby Downer Hahaha totally....thoroughly too. I'm really bummed! I've always known OSU was riding the coattails of bigger programs. That was the fun of it...the little engine that could. Im in my 50s now and even though I'm an SDSU alum, my love for Oregon State has been the one and only sports constant my entire life, probably my only connection to Oregon at this point. I knew when SEC took OK and Texas the arms race had accelerated, but I didn't think it would explode in a years time. So f%#* ESPN, f%#* the powers that be in the Pac 12...Go Beavs! Whatever happens, I'll always be a Beaver.

Looks like regional rivalries I would agree but that doesn't account for Fresno St., biggest rival for a long time was San Jose St. I think their "rivalry" with San Diego State is a relatively new thing. The power of the Boise St. program would give the Pac the most credibility if the conference were to expand into Mountain West teams.

Reasons I took Fresno over the Donks…
Boise is good in football and that’s it Cali is a bigger market and keeping 4 teams there makes sense Cali is better recruiting area.
San Jose could easily take Fresnecks spot. In fact, I’d rather add them than Fresno. I was trying to keep it 16 and 4 in Cali.
Boise would fit too. Natural rivals w the NW schools.
Go to 18 then and add Boise and San Jose to my original 16.

I truly hope we don’t end up with any Texas or plains state schools. Fun for one offs or home/home sets, but not my cup o tea for regular games.

I'd like them both. Fresno has a metro population of a million and it's a California school. Picking up them and SDSU could take some sting out of losing the 2 LA schools as far as recruiting relevance goes.
Boise has had a lot of success the last 20+ years and would be a nice roadtrip to make every other year, especially earlier in the season.
I'd really like to see the league get to 16 teams (at least) fast, and try to keep it there at a minimum if teams do up and leave.

Some body on one of these threads mentioned the BigPac which would have a big12 division and a pac12 division with a pickup of San Diego state and maybe boise. An issue is when Oklahoma state came here a few years ago a couple of Oklahoma state fans stopped by our tailgate. I asked one of them if we come to Stillwater for the next game what is there to do there. The guys response well we have the national wrestling hall of fame. Ok maybe I can look past that or not.

The most intriguing program in that conference is Houston and they haven't played a single Big 12 game yet. To keep the Pac together you may have to give Oregon and Washington the Boise State treatment and pay them higher media rights to stay. And what kind of mediocre media deal would the Pac whatever even be able to put together even with those two schools? All the money us in the SEC and Big 10...and every school in the country will jump at their first opportunity to join either one.

Baylor is one of the best universities in the country, Oklahoma State has T. Boone Pickens and some great alumni, and Kansas has basketball.
