I agree with Steven that if we expand, I would like to see it regionally. I would pick up Boise St. San Diego St., Utah St, Nevada, UNLV and Colorado St. to give us 16 teams and a West Coast presence. It may not be a super conference, but all of those schools have had some success in various sports. You would just have to get the Presidents to accept a couple of those schools that are not exactly known for their academic prowess.

I like what Steven is saying. The big caveat is does anyone else leave? If the remaining 10 stick we have a shot at being an alright 12 to 16 team conference and pretty much owning every decent region west of the Rockies except LA. If anyone bails we probably fall apart quick and the left overs realign with Mountain West.
I prefer that the conference acts as swiftly as it can to stabilize and being in decent programs. If they can’t then I prefer OSU positions itself as fast as possible to be an anchor for a low tier conference.
There’s opportunity in this but only if we take decisive action which has never really been the P12 or OSU’s style.

That is the best, most encouraging thing I've seen all week about where things are headed. Agree, keep things regional and maintain as much of the character and tradition of the Pac12 as we can. Build on what we have going. Which ain't nothing!
Let SoCal schools chase their white whale. Like SJ is talking about they very likely will not find what they are looking for. I also see no reason to give those schools the time of day in any other sports if they do indeed bail on the conference. There's plenty of other quality schools on the west coast that can fill the void. Other than some OOC stuff, the LA schools can pound sand if they need games for their secondary sports. Call BYU you traitors.

Going from 33 million to 4-5 million is a death knell if we want to compete at the highest levels in Baseball,WBB,etc. |

Preposterous. Adding teams with negligible market appeal in small to middling media markets is just a non-starter. Better to be the pac 8 then split the money with more teams that bring nothing to the table. It is mostly silly for us to even talk about. Their are actual media experts out there that can advise the conference exactly what new members are worth, whether they add value or not. |

You still have some big enough names to at least draw the same $$ that you are getting now. |

Utah State is a Carnegie R1 university. Our endowment and annual research budget are not that far below OSU's. We just got the green light to convert our 2 year veterinary medicine college (partnership with WSU) to a full 4 year school. Academically, we'd fit in well with OSU and WSU. I would hope that USU and CSU would come in as a package. |

I think i'd like to snag two teams from the Big 12.
Okla St & Texas Tech, Okla st & TCU, Kansas/Okla st, or just two Texas teams. (Currently the Big 12 has a "midwest/Texas coverage. By joining the PAC 8,10, or 12 they'd have a texas/midwest, SW, & west coast coverage area)
Maybe fill that out with Boise St & San Diego St. That would give us 12-14 teams. If Whoregon and Worshington end up skedaddling for the money we'd still have 10-12 teams.
