Personally, I won't be surprised if this whole "Big-2" major national conferences thing (Big-10, SEC) just blows up after a few years. Much of the enthusiasm and attraction of college sports relies on intense and traditional regional rivalries which significantly help drive attendance and TV-ratings. This business of just lumping everyone together based solely on TV contracts really isn't going to drive up fan intensity or regional TV ratings.
Just wait until the two villains in this artificial "nationalization" of college sports (Fox and ESPN/ABC) begin having to deal with diminishing TV ratings in the not too distant future. I suspect that, over time, the old PAC conference may yet rise again in some form or another.

Maybe, and truly hope that does happen......no offense meant, but this perspective may just be that of a "have not". The blue bloods and their fan bases will benefit tremendously, only increasing their exposure, recruiting success, and said fan bases.
