Who from OSU does Shaylee follow on the social media platforms? Only TvO from what I saw, and not a real recent follow. She follows a lot of top tier WBB players in general, so I don’t read much into her following TvO. And Mik, whom she started following a week or so ago. This afternoon she has added a couple NC State contacts, so it appears what beaverwbb fan reported is true, that she is considering Texas, NC State, and Oregon State (hopefully). Her two new NC State follows today make you wonder if she is making the rounds this week. If so, I hope the Beavs get final shot. If she already visited here, it didn't produce any new OSU social media friends.

Vic Schaefer is a defense first kind of coach. No guarantees at all Gonzalez would be a a starter or even main rotation player at Texas. If her D wasn't up to his standards, not gonna get much court time. Shaylee looks to be a pretty decent defender from her highlight reel. Rueck is also a defense first kind of coach. However, OSU needs much more backcourt help with ball handling, offensive explosiveness, and some 1-on-1 skills. Shaylee would get loads of minutes at OSU. Different philosophies though. Vic is definitely from the hand to hand combat school for defense.
NC State is interesting to me. They lost a lot of big pieces, but they also reloaded nicely. Would be some competition for PT in that back court as well.

A rub that could be used against us is starters left and why. No one really knows why but two of them went to a familiar place and relationship in Aleah. Could be used against us. So to did Texas have a exodus of post players so that could be said in our defense. This is a time of some frustration! I heard it had to do with players who were the stars in their region and how they were revered and the realities of joining a D1 program where the coach is more impressed with your play on the court than how much of a star they were. They believed their press clippings. Now, before y'all run to defend thy fair maidens, this is coming from a significant booster, not me.

I don't think there is much out there to give any hints. She has friended some NC state players and now has friended Rori Harmon (Texas) on Instagram. I want to be wrong on this, but I think this is a long shot for the Beavs. I'm still surprised the Beavs haven't landed another big player to at least provide backup minutes to Jelena, Tamia, and Raegan.

With the "influencer" crowd, it is all about followers. The more you can add, the more you are worth$$$.(think NIL too) This feels like she is using the portal, among other things, to increase her followers. I very easily could be incorrect.

I think this hurts our chances of landing Gonzales:

Well...that could tell two different stories. Texas is not the place or maybe we get Aliyah!

Yes, those are two different stories.....But one seems much more likely than the other!🏀
I'm guessing she (Aliyah) already has something pretty specific in mind as to her destination.... She's a major player on a major team and here it is July... I doubt if she's just hopin' something good is gonna fall in her lap - if you get my drift. GO BEAVS!!

I think this hurts our chances of landing Gonzales: I don't see any way it helps. Matharu was Honarable mention Big 12, but Texas still has all these other talented guards listed in my earlier post "At guard Texas has Rori Harmon, who was Big 12 freshman of the year, Aliya Matteru who was Honorable Mention all Big 12, Shay Holle, who made a push from more playing time late last year and had 14 starts, Kyndall Hunter, who was the Hoopgurlz #24 player of 2021, along with Najakalenga Mwewentanda, (Gatorade player of the year from South Dakota and Jordan Brand participant) and Jordan Codio who was Hoopgurlz #67 of 2022, and just added star transfer Sonya Morris from DePaul"...They are going to be strong at guard with, or without Shaylee. Shaylee is a tough read. I agree with those who think she is looking to make herself a stronger brand, and reap the NIL benefits. Social media shows her recent follows and people connected to NC State, Texas, Arizona, Arizona St, and even Duke. I'll be glad to see her make her decision. She would really be a big help to the Beavs, but I don't have a lot of confidence that Corvallis will be her choice.

Apparently Gonzalez to Texas is official now. Honestly not super bummed about this. Players investing that much time in social media have to balance that with what's already a very full plate being a D1 athlete and a full-time student; something has to give, and that 'give' can effect the team. I do find it interesting and positive in general though that OSU was apparently in the late mix.
