Reportedly down to OSU, Texas, and NC State per the BallOut.
Would be a massive addition.

Looking at the OSU roster (from Shaylee's point of view) where would she herself fitting in? Basically, she would be looking at either beating out AJ or Bendu Yeaney for a starting position.....
Or is her level of play high enough that Rueck would see her as a start-right-now player? She does have 2 years of eligibility, so maybe Rueck envisions Shaylee and Talia as starters for the next 2 years....
I'm just thinking out loud here....I've not followed Gonzales' career - but, as Werebeaver points out - her stats at BYU are pretty impressive.....
I would be interested in hearing more from those of you who have an idea as to how and where she would fit into the current roster.... GO BEAVS!!

I would be shocked if the Beavs landed her, but if this report is true, Oregon State looks like the team that is perfect for her. Texas has done a great job ink the portal so far adding Taylor Jones and Khadija up front, but they also added a guard I wanted to see the Beavs interested in, Sonya Morris from Depaul. Add Sonya Morris with Texas Rori Harmon, and they don't need Shaylee. NC State already has Diamond Johnson and added Saniya Rivers through the portal. The don't need Shaylee either. Obviously she would greatly help either of those, and the market for NIL in both places would probably be better. Shaylee does have an NIL deal with Raising Canes, which wouldn't be super meaningful up here.
For Oregon State, Shaylee and Talia would form one of the best backcourts in the Pac12, and the country. If the Beavs could also add Josie Williams, they would hit that Grand Slam I was talking about and would be an instant contender for the top 3 in the Pac, and would give every reason to expect a top 20 team. Landing Josie and/or Shaylee are big if's though.

23% at the 3 isn't real heart warming, but her Asst's #'s and Ast/TO are both very good. Maybe the new PG?

rmancarl - - thanks for the info and the analysis....Informational posts like yours make this board a lively source of basketball buzz....
I'm curious why you would be "shocked" if Gonzales chose OSU when she is down to only three options and, as you say, two of them seem to be rather loaded at the guard position.
I've not heard about Josie Williams, and I did not know the Beavs are looking at her - even if thru a distant window... If you have more to share about her, please do.... GO BEAVS!!

NC State is definitely in the hunt for a PG.
From GoGriz.com:
“She [Idaho transfer Gina Marxen] was extended the opportunity, before she signed with Montana, to visit North Carolina State, a team coming off a 32-4 season and a trip to the Elite 8. They had plans to play Marxen at the point, to move Diamond Johnson off the ball to get the best out of both players (at least that was the recruiting pitch). Heady stuff. People in Raleigh are probably still scratching their heads at how they lost out on the chance to sign her. How they lost out to Montana.”
Texas does seem somewhat stacked with Matharu, Morris, and Harmon.
Oregon State would offer her a lot of minutes and a lot of time with the ball in her hand. Shaylee, Talia, and Bendu would be a really good backcourt.

We sometimes forget that players are also students!
Maybe there is a graduate program at OSU that grabs Shaylee's attention. There are a few here that N.C. State couldn't match!!
There also is a proximity factor. She is from Arizona - so maybe that figures into the equation if her choices boil down to OSU and NC State.... GO BEAVS!!

This would be a significant addition, if she comes to OSU. Easily beats out AJ or Bendu for minutes. And frees up Talia to play off of the ball a lot, where she is most efficient.

I guess I should have said before seeing beaverwbb fan's post I would have been shocked to see Shaylee join the Beavs, now my shock would be down to surprise, maybe even a mild surprise, but definitely a pleasant one, that is for sure. My reasoning was her NIL and WNBA aspirations, the fact that she was from Arizona, and that she had returned to Arizona this summer to hold a bball camp. I really thought she may be out for the highest profile location somewhat closer to home that she can find to enhance her NIL/WNBA prospects.
If Shaylee were to join the Beavs, I don't think this would change how the Beavs would use Bendu. Bendu is a strong defender who would most likely be guarding the opponents best 'small' player (their 1,2, or 3). I would fully expect Talia, Shaylee, and Bendu to be your three starting guards, with Shelaxxus, AJ, and the freshman as backups challenging the others for playaing time.

Our recruiting class is one of the top 5-10 in the country for this fall. We have recruited players from all across the country in the past few years who were 4 and 5 star recruits. Why would anyone be shocked if we got her? Scott is a great recruiter.

Impressive, and lengthy, highlight reel. Strong, physical guard. Her high IQ is evident with many of her cuts and reads. Lots of good moves in transition.
