Congratulations to one of the best athletes I have ever seen on the court at OSU.

Gawd I hate the Warriors and I was hoping their annoying little empire had imploded for good a year or two ago, but I'm happy for GPII, one of my favorite Beavs of all time in any sport. I don’t like the Warriors either, primarily because of Draymond. But, very happy for GPII and very happy that Boston fans are pissed. Some of the most annoying fans out there.

Now it’s payday for GP2, looking at 3-4 years at 10-12 mill per year. Well deserved

Got me curious about salaries now. I found this site www.2kratings.com/gary-payton-ii that has got GP2 currently ranked 161st in playing level out of all active NBA players, then I found this site hoopshype.com/salaries/players/ that has the 161st highest NBA salary this season at 8.2 million. From other sources I'm seeing the current median NBA salary is about 4.3 million. He's definitely due for a raise assuming the elbow heals and he continues to play well. I'm sure salary caps and other factors will play into whatever he ends up with whenever he negotiates next.

I don't think he's making anything close to $8 million a year. As far as "being able to survive on that," he should be paid fairly, equal to what his peer group makes.

He signed a 1yr 1.9M deal for this season and will have a nice pay bump for next season. Pretty awesome for a guy who was either waived or not re-signed by Houston, Milwaukee, LA, Washington & Portland. Maybe someone will overpay for him. I mean the Blazers once signed Allen Crabbe to 4 yrs/74M so anything is possible. www.spotrac.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/gary-payton-ii-20272/

Not a fan of Draymond either, but it was interesting to hear Iguadala say recently that their core doesn’t work without him. Steph and Klay are carefree players and Draymond is the one that keeps everybody in check to balance that. They are all still close after 10 years, that’s really an impressive thing. Iguadala has taken on GPII as a mentee, and that’s a huge benefit to him. I would not be surprised if GPII still sees his game level up significantly, even at 29.

Does he now have as many rings as his father? Yes They also have the same number of NCAA postseason wins GP2 arguably had more of an impact on earning the ring. GP started still in their finals, but hiss stats were minimal in the sunset of his career, and it was mostly the Shaq and Kobe show. They kindly for rings for GP and Karl Malone long after they both were able to lead their teams into final contention. GP2 mentioned that the ring was nice for throwing words back at his dad - I how he gets more! GPII also working on graduating will have that up with his dad as well.
