I'm sorry 3.8 points, 1.8 rebounds. You're right, that's much more impressive. Yeah, you did it! Not the point, though. What he did was way worse than what Sabrina did. And did you not watch GP in person? He did a lot of that in his day. So her behavior is better than a former Oregon State bench player who once tripped a referee. Awesome.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Storm kick the crap out of the Liberty in Seattle. Ionescu was a complete non-factor which made it even more enjoyable. I’ll say it, I can’t stand her or the school she went to.

As far as Payton, I never had the pleasure to see him play in person. OSU tickets were hard to come by in the Payton era and I lived outside of practical driving distance to Corvallis. Saw him play extensively on TV. Maybe I missed it, but I never saw him: 1. Leave his teammates and head to the tunnel before the end of a close game after fouling out (after UCLA hit the 2 foul shots, SI's teammates were down 5 with 11.4 seconds to go - the game was not over). 2. Shove one of his teammates in anger for not securing an important rebound. On senior day with that player's parents in the stands. Again, I don't hate her. I'm just not impressed with her as a person, outside of her basketball skills - which are considerable. I know this may be hard for certain folks to grasp, but being good at sports doesn't in and of itself make you worthy of admiration. No need to take offense if you're not one of those folks. And, to rewind back to the original post; I wasn't one of those who thought, "The queen will never make it in the WNBA". I just thought that some of the hype around her being a "transformational" player was maybe a little overcooked. But hey, hype and sports go together like the WWE and 12-man battle-royals.

He started a lot of games, so keep trying. Honestly, I don't remember him. I do remember we had a guy trip a ref but no way I could have named him. Looking at his stats. 1.8 ppg career average at OSU. He was one of those great Robinson recruits left to Tinkle I've heard about. Actually I really liked Reid except for his lack of sharing the ball until later in his final season. I thought the ref tripping incident kinda interesting, it was abhorrent except for the fact Reid was getting absolutely mauled and got a reaction foul. I could understand his frustration. Talented kid with a bunch of potential.

Probably my most clear memory of GP was at the Far West Classic. It may have been his senior year and OSU was playing St. Joseph's. I was sitting in the first row near the basket is why I remember. But StJoes had a freshman pg who was probably 6'1, 165 lb. And Payton had this total look of disgust and just abused this poor kid. I was relating to the St.Joe's guy (even though I knew my basketball skills were not in the same solar system as his). I felt sorry for him. Payton didn't do anything bad except talk, score and defensively harass the crap out of the poor Philly guy.

GP finished with a double-double: 10 points, 14 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Oh, I remember it happening, just because of the novelty (and stupidity) of it. I just didn't recall, until this thread, the infamous beaver player who did the trippin'. I don't remember the name of the tripped ref either.

And many hated Destiny Slocum as much. I don't think you were one of them but why did she garner so much hate for some? That whole fan fervor was strange when she left.
