Our first round opponent will be #14 Florida. Arizona St and Northwestern play this afternoon to decide the 8th team. Looks like we are on the opposite side of the bracket from #1 Oklahoma. We're on the side with #2 seed (Florida St, eliminated in their regional by Miss St). I could be wrong, but I don't think they re-seed for the WCWS. 2022 WCWS Bracket.
The only national seeds left on our side of the bracket are #7 Oklahoma State and #14 Florida. National seeds 2, 3, 6, 10, 11 and 15 all failed to advance to OKC. P.S. Wonder whether Coach Berg will have this Athletic Dept staffer address the team for a few minutes? He might have a few things to offer about tournament mind-set. If you want to make that case, go ahead. I'm not really much of a stat guy. I just posted these to show how effective OSU has been defensively so far in the postseason. Massey has them ranked #4 defensively in D1. |

Northwestern defeats ASU 8-6 in Tempe. So WCWS field is set. (They're on the Oklahoma side of the bracket.)
The good news for OSU is that there’s nothing they’ll face on their side of the bracket any tougher than what they faced in their conference schedule.
The “bad news”..Beavs were 9-15 in conference 😀
That said, Beavs are playing their best ball of the season right now and are at “full-strength”. I think we’ve got our opposition right where we want them. Time to keep confounding the softball world.

Northwestern pitcher pitched all 3 games. Threw I believe 175 in extra inning game. There goes that theory. Pitch count really doesn't matter much in softball. The fast pitch underhand motion is much more of a natural arm movement compared to throwing a ball overhand. My Dad was a men's fastpitch pitcher for over 40 years and used to pitch 5 games in a weekend in tournaments. |

I watched my Dad play Fast pitch. They had a Pitcher Dave McCain was so good I tried to catch his riseball. On the chops. He did beat the number one team in the country 1-0. High level softball at Normzndale and Farrugat in Portland. He was Adventist so He could not pitch after sunset so they had to carry an extra pitcher. I agree with You in that pitch count is not relevant in Softball. Northwestern pitcher threw 400 plus pitches against ASU who could hit well.

My dad played on an All-Star team that played against the King and His Court. Eddie Feigner was something to see. Would strike guys out from 2nd base. Could also strike you out blind-folded or throw pitches behind his back. Threw the equivalent of 110 MPH+ from the softball mound distance. My Dad's team was just happy that they scored a run against his 4 person team. Pitcher, catcher, SS and 1B were all the players they needed. |
