If Gonzalez is available, SR should be all over it. She’s really good and would step right into the starting PG spot. No doubt about it. Her and Talia would be an interchangeable combination at the 2 guard spots. Coaches should have the full court press on to get her to Corvallis.
With that said, this is likely following the recent trend of “going home to play.” So watch for the Arizona schools to have the inside track.

This season we will have 6 players who's natural position is 2 Guard (or at least they think that): Talia, AJ, Bendu, Blacklock, Aaron, Hansford 2 Players who's natural position is PG: Mannen, Pietsch The LAST thing this team needs right now is another guard. Even in the 23-24 season. Unless one wants to force players out. Locker room dynamics matter and 8 players competing for 2 or 3 spots is a fragile situation already.

With the current roster, it's obvious you will be playing a three guard lineup. If you want an average team that will have a tough time making NCAA tourney, or contend for the upper 3ish in the Pac-12, you can stick with what you've got. If you want to contend you would still want to go with another difference maker at guard. If you could land Shaylee Gonzalez she would fit right into the starting backcourt and you would have one of the better backcourts in the Pac-12. Chances of landing her are thin though, as everybody wants her, and most indications are that she is looking to up her profile/NIL hopes/WNBA preparations. She has an NIL deal with Raising Canes, which really wouldn't do much for them in the NW market, since the downtown Portland location is all they have out here. Sophia Stiles (Montana) would give you the point guard talents this team is lacking. She may end up staying in the Northwest, with Washington and Boise State as possibilities, but there is nothing at this point that I've seen that points to mutual interest with Oregon State. Certainly with SR's relationship with BH, and with Joslyn Tinkle's knowledge of Oregon State, there might be a shot with Sophia. We'll find out. Adding one of these players that only have one year of eligibility remaining shouldn't force any of the young players out, as they likely are not ready for big minutes yet anyway. Players are jumping ship anyway....even when they are starters....Taylor, Greta, Sasha, Kennedy, Taya.
I'll still be surprised if the Beavs don't find another 'big'. With only Timea, Ragan, and Jelena above 6'3", an injury or foul problems will really make you a small team.

I see Hansford and Blacklock as more of a 3 than a 2. Blacklock because of her driving ability and her willingness to mix it up inside, and Hansford because of her height and her mid-range shot. We can all hope that Bendu or Aaron can take over the PG for the team. Talia would be great, but so long as there isn't another scoring option the other teams will just keep double teaming her whenever she gets the ball as she is the only established scorer on the team.

I'm guessing it will be Yeaney and maybe Pietsch as the backup at the point. Aaron should also be able to handle pressure in the full court.

Arizona State continues to add to their portal intake landing Treasure Hunt. Interesting pick up for them.

Sophia Stiles (Montana) may very well end up in the Pac12. Social media shows mutual interest between her and both Colorado and Utah, with Colorado really showing a lot of interest. Washington may be involved as well. No social media interest from Oregon State that I saw, but I also know that with BH ties to SR, and Joslyn Tinkle's ties to Oregon State, there could very well be talks between her and SR. Yet, I'm thinking SR may be satisfied with the guards/wings he has. Sophia would provide the true point guard play the Beavs are lacking though.
At this point, you begin to wonder if the coaches will even add another big. I like the talent the Beavs have up front, but depth is a concern. I think we may be spoiled by all the big players we've had in recent years.

Wow, out of 351 D1 teams only 14 lost nobody to the portal. 96% of teams had at least one player hit the portal. Some had at least 4. I’m looking at the portal differently. In terms of starters lost compare us to the other d-1 schools!

It's irrelevant, really. Within five years the NCAA is likely to dissolve. The transfer rules will be gone as will eligibility rules [eligibility will not be limited to four years]. All college sports will become professional teams.

I never thought the Beavs would go through this portal season without bringing in at least one big. As is, the trio of Jelena, Raegan, and Timea are very talented, but if there is an injury the Beavs may end up playing a lot of small ball, which might not be a bad thing, but probably isn't ideal either.

With respect to the transfer portal and its 3 or 4 year history (?), the Beavs have given one hell of a lot more than they've received.
