For those familiar with that injury, how long would Boyd be out for? WebMD says 3-6 if broken.

For those familiar with that injury, how long would Boyd be out for? Contusion Grade 1 (its not) would not be out still there. Contusion Grade 2 - probably a few days with proper treatment Contusion Grade 3 - Could be a few weeks depending on how the nerves get impacted. Probably functional in a few days but painful and stiff for awhile. Breaks - Completely depends on the bone and location of a fracture in a bone. IF there is a break its unlikely to be a full shear break (like bones unaligned) cause he would have to be a hell of a man and a real s%#tty trainer to keep him out there. The hand has tons of small bones that can fracture and just need 4-6 weeks to fully heal like any bone really. If its a serious break or theres tendon/ligament damage its a complete s%#t show.

For those familiar with that injury, how long would Boyd be out for? It’s a contusion. Lots of ice and he should be OK in a day or two. Of course, it could be a deeper bruise and it can be a week or so. I would not get a medical opinion from someone who doesn't know contusion is the medical definition of bruise.

Wild pitch would be great. A walk would be better.

However, contusion is used more with the dinosaur egg type swelling you saw on Boyd’s hand.

Going to be interesting if Dorman/Mitch decide to let Ferrer keep going or go to pen to preserve him for the weekend You could run him 40 and still use him Sunday. Considering we have EVERYONE except Hjerpe available I would just let him keep a good thing going. Hes throwing very well.

The golf ball sized bruise was over the 2nd metacarpal....metacarpals are the long bones between the phalanges (fingers) and carpals (wrist bones)
