Anyone know anything? He’s been a hell of a pitcher for us.

"Anyone know anything?" (you ask) - Here's what I know:
The media (and I'll include Mike Parker, Steve Gress, Nick Daschel, and others) have CHOSEN to - or AGREED to (perhaps at the request of the OSU baseball brain-trust?) - Ignore Lattery's lack of mound appearances. He hasn't pitched for three weeks.
A little journalism might go a long way. But alas. What a contrast with the perpetually renewing "Pfennings will be ready soon" of a few weeks ago (don't get me wrong: I'm thrilled that Jake is obviously building back up to a full-time starter). It's just that I've never seen such a complete ignoring of a key player's status, as in the case of Lattery. In a normal/expected scenario, he'd be starting tomorrow in Eugene. Hopefully he does start, and all of my concerns are pure silliness.
I'd be interested to know when was the last time he appeared at a game, in the dugout, in uniform.

Lattery last pitched on 4/10 vs USC.....
Lattery was said to be sick the same weekend that Melton was (by Parker on the airways....), which was the next weekend after USC
There was another rumor going around that Melton had Mono, which clearly wasn't true, but the person posting seemed "confident" in their source
Makes me wonder if it was Lattery with mono, not Melton....but just piecing things together to create a thought/rumor which is probably dumb and dangerous
Hope he's okay and would love to see him slinging it on the mound too, had a very nice year and we could use him down the stretch and in the Tourney!

Hmmm. That's an interesting idea.
I had mono in college, put me on my ass for several weeks. I think I lost like 20 lbs too. I can't remember how long Rutschman was sick after he got drafted. Feels like it was a few weeks.

Rutschman was out a month-and-a-half with mono. If I had to guess, it was probably more like two months, because Rutschman looked like he had mono for the last 3+ games at Oregon State.

For any of you that are travelling to Eugene tonight, would you please report back if you have a sighting of a Beaver player, approx. 6'5", wearing #19? Thanks.

I was at the game but most all of the bench players were wearing sweatshirts. And no way could I see everyone in the bullpen.
The mystery continues.

At any rate, it's pretty amazing that the Beavs pitching staff could lose: • one weekend starter for the entire season (Frisch) • another weekend starter for a good chunk of it (Pfennigs) • a key member of the bullpen for the entire season (Mundt) • and possibly a solid mid-week starter (Lattery) and still be: #2 in the Nation / Leading the PAC with 3 weeks to go / RPI at #2 Nationally.....and on track for a top 8 seed in post-season.

A player suddenly disappears for 3 weeks. Start with a process of elimination by listing possible reasons. 1. Left the team or was dismissed from the team. 2) Suspeded indefinitely by the coaching staff. 3. Has some form of lingering or serious illness.4. Has suffered a baseball injury, possibly shoulder girdle, UCL or R-Cuff. 5. Is in a state mental crisis 6. Is involved with some sort of legal issue 7. Has academic problems or is ineligible. 8. Is in rehab 9. Caught the night fligyt to Mazatlan with his girlfriend, never to return.
The difficulty with this process? It's all on the dark side. A player suddenly disappears, everyone is silent for weeks and te team isn't revealing anything. They should signal something, otyerwise you have a lot of rumors and speculation taking root. None of that is good for the program.

As per usual, the silence is deafening, if not infuriating too.

Which would mean he is still on the team and either sick or injured.

"As per usual, the silence is deafening..." Not entirely true....this one is different* in that it's a 100%, total news blackout - not even an acknowledgement of it's existence. It's simply: "Hunter is our mid-week starter", nothing more need be said. Lattery is essentially 'he who shall not be named'. I fault the journalist/media community far more than I do the Team. *With Pfennigs for example there was considerable chatter by Parker, et. al. about his potential return.
