This is a perfectly fine addition. The obvious caveat is the injury history. If you look at her game log from last season, it's worrisome that she missed the last 6 games of the season (as well as 4 other games earlier in the season). I found next to no in-season news about TSU WBB so you can't guess as to the nature or seriousness of the injuries, but in that final 6-game stretch she was listed in the game notes for the first two games as the likely starter, so it's mildly encouraging that at least early on it was considered a day-to-day situation. Here's another article that came out shortly after her initial decision to transfer to Syracuse in which she discusses her playing background and her injury history. Comes across as a mature and level-headed young woman. If she can be healthy and available for the entire upcoming season, this can end up being an extremely valuable pickup. Good luck to her.

Glad to have her. Am more optimistic about her contributing that I was about Codding, particularly given that she was also coming back from (a more recent) injury. And Codding ended up starting a lot of games. We at least know Aaron knows the level of play in the Pac, including some good teams in TSU’s non-conference last year. Probably not a difference-maker, but definitely should help.
I agree that the standard should be higher in that we should be getting at least sure thing contributors, but she’s probably not that far off that mark.

This shouldn't be a big surprise if you've been following this (long) thread. Beaverwbb fan mentioned her early. The coaches and her have been following each other on social media for quite some time, and the Beavs know her well. She has certainly showed promise between all her injuries, and can shoot the 3, and is a good ft shooter. The good news is that this gives the Beavs two players coming in with Pac-12 starting experience, even if Shalexxus starting was limited. For those of you looking for a point guard, this still does not answer that, but with Shalexxus and Bendu, you have added two guards which takes the pressure off Talia, if Talia ends up as the point. I still think the Beavs bring in a point/combo guard. You would think if Shalexxus can get herself healthy, she would be a great candidate to position the NCAA for an extra year. She's missed two entire seasons, and had two other short years due to injuries. If I'm not mistaken, she also had 2 ACL surgeries in HS, which makes you wonder if she can stay healthy for a full season. In my mind, both Bendu and Shalexxus bring some hope that they could have their 'career' year at OSU. They could also just have average seasons, which would likely be a minor upgrade from last season's two transfers Codding and Adams. What I see so far is two singles which could turn into doubles, but not enough to make the Beavs a major threat next season. I'd still like to see a Homerun! At least one quality Post/PF and a point/combo guard will make this team look a lot better.
One more thought. Shalexxus scored 5 against Colorado, 16 against Texas A&M, and 11 against LSU last year. I'd take that average against quality opponents next year.

She looks great! Has Pac-12 and ACC experience and is a good shooter. Bummer about all her injuries, but looks healthy at Texas Southern. Hope she'll have a great final year with us! If healthy at TexSouthern why only 16 games? I'm sure she can contribute, but this is not the type of portal (actually grad transfer) player OSU truly needs to be competitive. OSU will add more, but I'm going to hope for at least a couple more impact starter types that are versatile 4/5s.

Never seen so many out of work head women's basketball coach's critiquing how a 4 star athlete can't help us etc before she has even laced em up. Some serious donkeys on this board. Fricking tall guard with experience in the pac 12 that can shoot..... yes please and may I have another. Welcome aboard can't wait to cheer you on and get to know you.

In less than 50% of the games she been eligible to play. Injuries and/or bad luck are a consideration when forming one's opinion. Added, this is her 4th school in just over a year if I've followed the timeline correctly. That's not normal, even in this crazy portal era. Oh, by the way, they are called opinions. Someone once said they are the pathway between ignorance and knowledge. On message boards you're allowed to have them. And they don't need to agree with yours that tend to be weighted toward the former.

She could have missed a lot of games due to Covid protocols.

Getting her only brings us up to 10 players - plenty of room left on the roster, so signing her doesn't take away any other options we might be working on. So, more good than anything here, and I'm glad to have her.
I mentioned this before, and I'll do so again - 6 transfers signed in the last 3 years, all 6 grad transfers.

Really? So out of the hundreds in the portal at 6.5 points per game is the best Scott can do? Sounds like there is some "wait we have to get someone routine because May is upon us" But spin away as this is the best portal option left out there. There are hundreds of better choices in the mix. So many here suggested good portal picks in the last two weeks here that seemed so intriguing. Is this an upgrade to those that left? Better than Brown for example. Think not. This is a dice roller pick that was not needed at this time.
We would be slamming this selection if any other pac-12 school made this choice.

Shalexxus wants to be here, Brown does not. If the "we" are those same posters slamming this "selection" you are correct. It really seems to be the same posters.

Evidence that our coach is trying to do something about some of the issues that plagued us last year. Now if he can have decent success in the guard area for 2023 things be lookin up…..for him and the team.
