Baseball Ameria released their 4-25 MLB Draft rankings today. In the first 10 rounds of the 20 round draft this year, Oregon State has 5 players and 2 recruits ranked. There is significant movement from release to release, so note the Beavers and their ranking to see if they are on the move when the next release comes out. Boyd and Melton have upward mobility.
Ranking: #48 LHP Cooper Hjerpe Ranking #59 OF Gavin Turley - Chandler/ Hamilton HS AZ. Ranking #71 OF Jacob Melton Ranking #139 RHP Will Frisch Ranking #236 IF/OF Dallas Macias - Aurora/ Regis Jesuit HS, CO. Ranking #268 RHP Jake Pfennigs Ranking #287 OF Justin Boyd
Round projections based on these rankings: Hjerpe - 2nd, Turley - 2nd, Melton - 3rd, Frisch - 5th, Macias - 8th, Pfennigs - 9th, Boyd - 10th.
* In BA's actual first round-only mock draft last week, Cooper Hjerpe was the 16th selection in the first round by the Cincinnati Reds. Draft rankings and Mock Draft selections will vary. Pay attention to the rankings.
* * Another recruit showing up on draft lists is LHP Nelson Keljo from Portland - Jesuit HS.

I don't get why a HS kid would forego getting a college education....at least partially paid for...especially with NIL potential. Sure you are a great prospect..but go into pro ball out of HS and fail...end up with no education and no MLB career...Sure I know that contracts can include stipulations to pay for a players education..but not sure how often it gets used...Gotta wife now, a kid or two? Good luck going to school and supporting your family Got to college get a degree (or get at least close enough to complete it later)... Turley would be looking at a $1-3 million dollar signing bonus based on where he goes in the draft. That’s more than enough to jump start your life and still be able to pay for college later without debt. Personally I think the cutoff for a ha kid needs to be $1 mil+ when you stack up what kind of earnings you get in the minors and what you give up. Not to mention taxes and agent fees.

Weird flex. His stats are significantly improved over last year. How can they know he’s done if he hasn’t plateaued?

BUT - if you do decide to take advantage of the college education paid for by the MLB team that you signed with out of HS - the closest you're going to get to that beautiful baseball diamond on the campus of the college of your choice....is the stands.

On scout rating system he is below average arm, below average speed, below average power. Doesn’t mean he won’t get a chance to play just won’t get drafted

Basically we lose everyone on the list. I do wonder if Pfennigs and Frisch would be better of doing more re-hab here. Guess they think the Pros will do a better job.

If some players don't utilize them it's probably why they signed. School wasn't their thing.
