I’m not sure if I’d call that a nice offer list really, but at least mostly P5 schools. The most important offer on that list for me is GA Tech. Means Reveno knows him and not just a stab in the dark like the transfers seemed to be last year. Stats aren’t overly impressive, but was getting some nice minutes in SEC — albeit for a bad team. Beavs needed a PG, and he does have 3 years of eligibility left, which is nice. Not gonna call it a great pickup at this point, but another piece to the puzzle. Interested to see how he and the other newcomers do next year.

August trip will be very important.

Plus great experience for the kids beyond basketball. Yeah, inexperience is gonna be a big issue. Not expecting big things out of next year’s team, but really looking forward to seeing how team grows. That does have me excited as a fan. Maybe the bad season and how the team often looked (unwatchable) has messed with my memory, but I think I’m more excited to see how this team does than I was going into this past season.

If this kid was a high school senior, had been offered by Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, TCU, Nebraska and Middle Tennessee, and chose us, we'd be ecstatic.
So we shouldn't be pleased that the same kid is coming here, with a year of experience under his belt? This sounds like an excellent addition.

I view this as a need filled. It would be nice to sign the second coming of Steve Nash, but what we need is simply someone who can handle the ball and direct the offense. Yes, he needs to play solid D as well. I am also encouraged by the fact that Reveno probably had a prior relationship with him.

Greece?? Italy?? Saw it listed earlier this year. It should be on the Dam Proud link under MBB. If the link still is up working.

The key for this season not being like last season is vetting the attitudes of the newcomers much better. And also having a coach committed to disciplining those that break rules. Can’t have the inmates running the asylum again
I like this kid’s potential though

Hoping you're into hoops enough to know that a HS offer sheet before playing one second of D1 ball has very little to do with the level of transfer. The kid had limited contribution on a 6-26/1-17 team. One of 8 who played 18+ minutes/game... shot 34.8%/26.5%... although great from the line. His A/TO:64/49 in 32 appearances is nothing to shout about. Glad he's here. But, he now has D1 stats, not the same type of portal offers (cuz he'd still pick a team coming off a worse season than Georgia?). But, maybe he just wants out of his home state for a while. But, college stat wise he's pretty much at the level of last year's recruits. Hence, why no one is doing any jumping.

Evaluators from five P5 schools thought enough of him to offer him a scholarship. His A/TO rate was better than every player on the 2022 Beavers except Davis.
I said we should be pleased. I'll stand by that statement.

I'll stand by that statement. I don’t really see any posters that aren’t pleased by the pick up — just not over the top joyous. I believe I said “not gonna call it a great pick up at this point,” and I stand by that. There are definitely some things to like, but I’m not sure having what would have been the second best A/TO ratio on a 3 win team that basically had one PG is a ringing endorsement. And yes, while five P5 teams offered him coming out of HS, were not talking about Duke, Ohio State, Kentucky and Kansas here. What I think is more pertinent is after having a year of college ball tape to review, what teams were expressing interest in him as a transfer other than the Beavers. Again, I’m glad to have him in the team. He fills a need, has three years of eligibility, and would seem to have upside. He could be a very nice pick up — time will tell. But at worse he’s another piece of the puzzle for next year and beyond. The most encouraging thing for me as I mentioned in my original post is that it would seem that Reveno had a previous relationship with the kid, so this feels much less like a stab in the dark than the transfer signings last year.

Sounds like he got better as the season went along and started the last 5 games if I remember what I read correctly. Plus some coach named Rick Petino originally got him to commit (to Iona). So to me that at least is a very good sign

I think teamwork and chemistry is huge to our future success. Does anyone remember year 1 with Wayne Tinkle and GP 2? GP 2 was a very solid player but nothing like he became as a senior. That team went 17-14 with Duvivier,Schaftenaar,Robbins,Reid,Morris-Walker,and not much else. Why did they win more than they lost? Lock down defense, team play, solid rebounding, chemistry. It isn't always the most talented team that wins...often it's the team that plays together.
