It is only a matter of time until there are players transferring between rival schools such as OSU and Oregon. I think it has happened a few times in football before, but I don't remember it ever happening in basketball? Most players don't have the same level of animosity towards rival schools or take the rivalry as personally as fans do, especially if they are from out of state. Some of them were recruited by both schools and have relationships with the other teams coaches and players. When it happens I am guessing it will create a degree of hostility and mixed emotions for many fans. Already happened I believe. Thought I saw in MBB wsu to uw

Thought I saw in MBB wsu to uw in the early 70’s, WSU head basketball COACH Marv Harshman moved from WSU to UW. So there’s nothing new under the sun.

Ashley Allen, a player under Lavonda, started at Oregon and then transferred to OSU for her final two years.

When has a coach ever coached at 3, 4, or even 5 different schools in a 4 or 5 year period? This has quickly become a false equivalency. There's some movement of assistant coaches on a regular basis, but not like this, and head coaches obviously don't change jobs on a yearly basis.
An exception that seems to prove the rule is that Kevin McGuff went from Xavier, spent 2 years at Washington, and then moved on to Ohio St. So that was 3 schools in a 4 year period, but that is extremely rare. Plus he was at Xavier for 9 years and has now been at tOSU for 9, so again not even remotely the same as the shuffle college athletes are collectively currently engaged in.
Not sure if you're disagreeing or agreeing. But, I think we're saying the same thing?? Sorry for being unclear. Yes, agreeing. I was just emphasizing that player movement has far exceeded coaching movement in this very recent era.

The whole equating professionals seeking a new job, being fired to college student athletes is ludicrous in the first place. One isn't the same as the other. And, the combo of the NLI with no real policy or enforcement along with the portal will force college sports to change. The big $, keep up with the Jones', and the current loopholes are not sustainable. NCAA, a new organization, or combo I'm hoping something happens to get the (more) amateur back into college athletics.

Coaches don’t have eligibility limits either. Hey, maybe the NCAA will change that too! Since the facade of amateur athletes is off, why limit their career length?! Replace the word “facade” with bull-s%#t, and….. VOILA!!!

Yes, it's really hard to believe how much of a hands off approach the NCAA has taken with NLI. An organization known for being overbearing has apparently turned over a new leaf. There used to be some absolutely ridiculous punishments handed out over the most minor of offenses, and they fought tooth and nail to promote the notion of amateurism. It's like they completely gave up and don't care anymore. Just keep the money flowing in from the NCAA Tourney and they'll let the schools do whatever they want at this point.

I think the only way that happens is if a whole bunch of schools break away from the NCAA and form a new organization without NIL, without the transfer portal, without the big money schools, and without the NCAA's overall ineptness. Don't look for it anytime soon.

I think it would take a guy like Musk and what he is attempting with Twitter (no take either way on that as I"m not a social media type) to offer the organization and have a big TV contract in hand! Money would make such a spark and fire and I'm guessing a lot of schools would be interested.
