It’ll be interesting to see who shows up. And what, if anything, Scott says about the transfers.

He is not going to talk about the transfers specifically at a formal ceremony, nor should he. When he does speak directly with the media, he will talk about them in a general way without going into detail. From his standpoint, they are no longer part of the program, and it is time to focus on the players currently on the team. Coaching media relations 101.

He’ll pull a Geno and say “If you can’t play for me, you can’t play for anybody!” and then infer that the transfers will perform similarly or worse elsewhere unless they play at a lower level.

They're part of the team being celebrated. Heck, they could have been voted awards by teammates?? My guess is that some will show?? Anyone attending? Let us know.

I would doubt that Greta, Kennedy, or Taylor would show up, nor would I think it would be suggested to them that they should. Nobody at the banquet would bear any ill will toward Taya, however, and it would be a good thing to say a proper goodbye to her.
As for me, I will not be attending this year's banquet as I've been invited to sub in a bowling league.

So, is it me, or will it be weird to have the banquet with portal players sitting there? I'm sure all of the players on the '22 team are invited. And if one or more of the portalers decides to attend and celebrate the season with their teammates, I'm sure everyone is mature and gracious enough to wish them well and get through the evening without any embarrassing scenes. Wishful thinking? Sure, why not?

If you had just transferred out of a university, would you want to go to the team banquet having to answer questions about why you are leaving to alumni or die hard beaver fans? Maybe I'm different. I wouldn't. I'm sure they said their goodbyes to teammates whom they had a friendship/relationship with. I would think it would be uncomfortable for the players moving on. Just my opinion

Just my opinion It’s also possible that there are personal reasons (see Sasha G) involved in one or more of the portal decisions that the staff and teammates are aware of, but which those outside of that inner-circle are not. In that case, perhaps not so uncomfortable at all. Bottom line is, as much as we think we know, we really don’t know.
