Who knows? Thus far, no one in the program will say anything, outside of the glossy posts the players/AD release. So all it’s going to be is speculation. Maybe the press will quit lobbing soft balls at SR and ask him?

Informed opinions only please. Brown Jones Kampshroeder Why? Facts v. speculation. Kampahroeder probably seeking playing time. We have noticed she played less and less minutes. Only 3 minutes in last game so was kind of expecting her on transfer portal. No idea why Jones and Brown would leave, it’s a shock and disappointing. Hope SR will find some good replacements out of transfer postal soon. |

If you divide the number of players who have entered the portal by the number of teams nationwide, it is approaching 3 players per program. It would be interesting to know if the 3 players who have transferred did it for personal reason, like being closer to home, or if they were less then pleased about some aspect of the program?
There was an "optimistic" thread a couple of weeks ago where a number of people stated they didn't think anyone would transfer, that didn't age well.

Maybe the press will quit lobbing soft balls at SR and ask him? SR can't actually reply with factual info. Some of it might be demeaning to him and hence the program. Anything negative about a player is never shared and would cause a ripple effect to any recruiting. So the generic homesick/closer to home, more PT, etc are the standard messages. I always wonder how this stuff effects signed recruits and their parents. I know as a parent it have me making phone calls to those entering into the portal and the to the coaching staff. My daughter may not be able to get out of a LOI, but I'd want a heads up on any issues going on within the program. |

This next year could be as ugly as ugly gets for a program that has fallen off the cliff in the past 4 years now. What was a nationally recognized program is now becoming a "also mentioned" program. Beaver nation is going to be impacted by this mass exodus, and fans will not return to watch an also ran... |

That prediction going belly up seemed like a no brainer to me. You would pretty much have to ignore everything that's been happening in wcbb (I mean nation wide, not just OSU) the last year+ to think nobody would be leaving. |

GK…in time would have been a solid player.
None of them will ever play in WNBA. Good luck in life. Will probably be job hoppers too when they get to the real world.

Why did Goforth leave last year? No one knew, but they surmised that she was homesick.
At the time, no one knew that she was struggling with a medical condition that would eventually lead to her having to give up the game (at least for now).
Bottom line is that we may never know why student/athletes transfer and the reasons for transferring is probably different in each case.

Bottom line is that we may never know why student/athletes transfer and the reasons for transferring is probably different in each case. That's very true. Questioning the reason for individual choices to transfer provides fodder for boards like this, but can never provide answers. The real question to be asked is why so large a group (30% of conference players with eligibility left) would choose to take this action all at the same time. In any given election, a certain number of registered Democrats will vote for a Republican candidate, just as some registered Republicans will vote Democrat. Unless they choose to explain it, we won't know the individual reasons. Probably wouldn't care that much either. But, if in some future election, 30% of registered Democrats in Benton County voted Republican while the rest of the state broke down as usual, that would raise a very different set of questions about Democratic leadership and local policies in Benton County. If 30% of registered Democrats across the entire western United States did so, then the questioning goes to a whole different level. That's where we are with this damnable portal. |
