almost feel sorry for them. ASU is a top 5 all time program. they have put 110 players into the major leagues, most of any school all time. Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Bob Horner, Dustin Petdroia, Floyd Bannister, Barry Bonds, Rick Monday were all Sun Devils. With their facilities, the weather and the talent pool in state they may get there again someday but judging by the team that showed up at Goss they are a long long ways away.

They will always have the weather. But many of the advantages they once had were eliminated once everyone started playing by the same rules (# of scholarships, # of games, universal starting date, etc.). The field has been leveled considerably. |

I'm cool with ASU not being good. In fact I don't feel sorry for Arizona St or Southern Cal baseball, not even a little. I also don't care for Stanford, Ucla, Arizona, Oregon, Cal, Washington, Washington St, & Utah. If that makes me an asshole........ So be it. |

They are pretty bad.
I'm not gonna complain too much about a series win in dominating fashion, but I'd rather all the Pac12 teams were competitive. I mean GCU shouldnt be better than ASU.

I never take a Pac-12 opponent for granted....and it seems the posters on this topic Pooh-pawed them ....difficult to sweep an opponent. |

1. Arizona State 4
3. Oregon 3
3. UCLA 3
3. USC 3
No one else has more than one.
In the past decade, the Arizona schools have been the biggest thorns in Oregon State's side in conference play.
Also, Arizona State beat Oregon State just last year in conference play. The Devils handed Cooper Hjerpe his worst pitching performance in orange and black. Arizona State also won a second game on a Mully blown save (Mully's last ever blown save in conference play).
The Devils have neither hosted nor won a Regional since 2011 but were within a run of beating the eventual regional champion three separate times. Arizona State was in the Austin Super Regional in 2011 and were Pac-10 Champions and the #1 overall seed in Omaha in 2010 (eliminated by eventual champion South Carolina).

I don't feel bad, not one whit. I was also very unimpressed by the former Mariner "great" Willie "Boom boom" Bloomquist. He was a waste of space on some pretty good Mariner teams (Oh man it's hard to be a Mariner fan), and looks like he is one as a College baseball coach as well... He was constantly chirping at the ump all three games, including getting tossed in game 2, and he finally got to the ump in the ninth inning on Sunday. Carpenter gave up the nail in the coffin hit, but he was definitely squeezed on several pitches in the ninth inning.
